Caught Up

Busy couple of days.  I flew five flights today, 8:30 am to 7 pm, and had a break for lunch at McDonald's.  Lots of wind.  Still.  Makes it sporty trying to do T-6 training, or Champ training.  Even the 172s aren't able to always go because they are perpetually painting Runway 23, so we only have Runway 14 available, and of course the winds have all been down 23 lately.  Good times!  Tomorrow the winds are supposed to get up over 30 knots.  I hope it calms down soon.  I have stuff I need to do before the cold is here to stay.  It was 30 degrees this morning.  We just tonight got a working heater/furnace in the house.  The air conditioning part isn't hooked up yet, but at least the heat is.  It's taking him awhile to install this.  It's been like 4 days.  But at least the heat is working tonight, it was getting pretty chippy out there.  :)

Last night we had an EAA Chapter meeting, and a lot of people came.  I bought hot dogs and buns, and the room was full.  We held elections for the next year, and then gave Isabel her scholarship award for her Private Pilot, via the Ed Hewitt Scholarship.  He passed away two years ago, and this is the second scholarship we've been able to award through him.  The first went to Cameron, who finished it not too long ago, just a few months before the Saratoga accident.  Isabel is a great person to have it go to too.  We have some great kids out here.

They did tell me to come up and speak, and I wasn't expecting that nor did I know what to say.  Awkward.  But we made it.  Her parents and boyfriend came too.  Cameron was there as well, his first time out that we know of, his first 'appearance' with us airport folks.  We were all really glad to see him.

Kaylee came home last night to pick up a few things.  She was feeling sad for no reason, so we hugged for awhile, she got her stuff, and headed out to her friends who were making her chocolate covered strawberries.  She's doing well.  I don't have a clue what her grades are, but she doesn't seem stressed by school, so I'm assuming she's doing all right.  lol

Tomorrow I have a flight in the morning, and then we're going over to IWU to listen to Kaylee's choir sing.  A small program, I believe.  I hope Steve has all the details because all I know is 1:30 pm maybe outside at the performing arts center somewhere.

Today was Day 200 of my Spanish lessons.  Again, I'm not picking up much quickly, but I am picking up a few things here and there.  I broke 500 hours of flight time for the year today.  Considering the time we've sat out, that's not bad.  I have another month and a half to see where I end up.  Academic care only, not like I'm trying to build time.  Let's see.  I have almost 11,700 hours total time now, 1,550 tailwheel.  But I've only shot 45 instrument approaches this year which isn't nearly as many as normal.  I haven't had as many corporate flights.  It says I've had 2,384 flights this year so far.  I like electronic logbooks and all the pointless data facts you can end up knowing.  My skin cancer that area that got frozen off is still kind of gross looking.  I'm not sure what's happening now.  First it was a big blister, then it was a big hole, now it's...I don't know.  She said if it wasn't all healed up by Thanksgiving to give her a call, though, so I've got a good month to go before it's "abnormal" or something.

Trying to think of other random things.  The heater just kicked on, so I know it's working.  That's good.  ;)  I've been eating too much again lately.  I haven't weighed in like two weeks and I've been over-eating, so I know I'm just avoiding it so I don't have to do anything about it.  So...I guess it's time to get back on track and not lose it.

And with that, I guess I'm caught up.
