It was like 80 degrees the last couple days. Beautiful. Yesterday would have been the perfect day to do something. Fly. Motorcycle. Corvette. Nope. I sat on the couch and read a book. Kaylee sat on the couch and watched a series. Probably the whole thing. Steve did some stuff outside and some paperwork. We mostly wasted the day, but I could not get up the oomph to do anything.
Today the temps have dropped precipitously. We woke up this morning, and our furnace wasn't on. Steve couldn't get it to come or stay on, and it was 45 degrees outside, so the inside of the house was dropping fairly well as well. He got on the phone with our furnace guy, and spent most of the day trying to fix it to no avail. Tonight we have a freeze warning from 2-9 am tomorrow, so that's nice. But what's odd is that the furnace randomly kicked on about an hour ago. We waited for it to die again, as it had every other time, and it didn't. Our house is currently at the correct temperature, but nobody is touching the controls, or breathing on it, or opening the door it's behind. It has done this before, and we were told we'd probably have to replace not only the furnace, but the "A Coil" for the air conditioning too, which is several thousand dollars all together. That's great at a time when there is no, zero, zilch income coming in, on top of everything else. And of course lovely when it dies right when the temps drop from 60-80 degrees to 30-40 degrees for a solid week coming up.
We are currently flea bombing the deck again, trying to stay ahead of the buggers, and Steve sprayed outside along the house too (I think, or he's going to). The cats' fur is growing in again nicely and they seem to be in decent shape at the moment.
I went out (alone) to UPS today to ship off SMA medical supplies. A ventilator, even. Got those taken care of, stopped at Panera for soup for Ann, stopped at Cone Palace for that treat we didn't get yesterday. Kaylee got a blueberry shake, I got a peanut butter one, Steve & Ann got strawberry shakes. It was a nice treat on a sunny day. I of course have wipes and sanitizer in the car to take care of anything I touched. The last two places are drive-thru only, but you still have bags and stuff to deal with.
Then we decided to pick up the 340 from Ohio from annual. D had said they'd said it was ready. So I call them to arrange it, and they say they want full payment before I pick it up. I text D, who says he can send a check out in the morning, as it hadn't been paid yet. I call her back and say "Check will go out in the morning". She says "No, we aren't accepting checks in the mail right now." Apparently the Postal Service is all messed up, and it is taking 2-3 weeks for mail to get places. She said that people are getting in trouble as they send in checks for things like loans or bills, in plenty of time, and they're late by weeks because the post office is messed up. So I'm not going to pick up the 340 after all today. I text D back and say "don't send the check, they want it in person". So tomorrow sometime I'll have to go over to MBros and pick up the check so I can have Steve fly me over to Ohio so I can hand them the check and pick up the plane.
Last night we had a strong line of thunderstorms move through Indiana. Our house was fine. We got a lot of wind, and our power flickered a couple times, but we were fine. Others weren't so lucky. About 110,000 people went without power for awhile last night in central Indiana. There was a tornado that went through south of us, and several towns were directly hit. One poor woman was crying on TV--she'd just lost her job because of the virus, and now her home has been flattened by a tree from the tornado. She doesn't even know where to go or what to do. Awful.
Well, I'm going to try to go figure out dinner. I have plenty of food, I've just never been good at actually planning and fixing it on a regular schedule...
P.S. I ended up making spaghetti, with cheese toast, and I crumbled fresh real mozzerella on top. It was actually really good.
P.S.S. Our furnace kicked off again and isn't running properly. It may be a cold night. We have space heaters at least.
