We had our first EAA Chapter meeting of the new year, and we did our first ever "IMC Club" and "VMC Club" meetings. We started with IMC, which is talking about IFR flying, and did a video on a scenario having to do with icing. The regular meeting was short after that, and then the VMC club was about taking off of a grass strip and waiting too long to abort the takeoff. What would you do type scenario. Each section only lasted about half an hour each, and we had probably 60 people there, standing room only. So it was good stuff!
Kaylee texted me tonight asking me questions about grammar and towards writing a paper for her psych class. But more interestingly, she sent me a link to a reading speed and comprehension page/quiz. She told me to take it. The last test I remember taking on how fast I read was in grade school in Union Grove, WI, and I don't remember the results, but I know I was fast, with a very high reading comprehension score. I figured I'd be slower these days. So I took the test. Kaylee said she got a score of about 300 words per minute (wpm). I did the reading test and got 703 wpm, and then took the comprehension test and got 10 out of 11 correct for a 91% reading comprehension. Then I did the reading test again and read as fast as I could go. I got 915 wpm. No reason to take the comprehension again as it would be the same questions and now I'd know the answers. But that made me feel pretty good, actually. I still got it.
Kaylee was a little mad at me though, wants to know why she didn't get my speed reading gene. ;)
Oh, and here's a video from a long time ago. Steve is in it, with an all-brown beard, and I fly the T-6 in it. They speed up the aerobatic footage and set it to "Danger Zone", and it's highly cheesy. :D
