Ann's procedure seems to have been successfully completed, and now she gets to heal those up for the last time hopefully!
My medical is officially renewed, and I'm good for another year. I wish it would be good for 3 years like a 3rd class medical, because it seems like this year comes around faster and faster. But as long as I hope to continue being paid to fly airplanes, I'm stuck getting the 2nd class every year. So be it.
One thing I thought was interesting was that the last two times I got my blood pressure taken, at the walk-in clinic when my stomach was killing me, and today, my blood pressure was up to 130/70. That's really high for me! The first time I figured I was sick and she did it fast. Today, I have a cold and I don't feel well, but still. So I'm going to buy a blood pressure cuff to have around here (our old one broke) and see if this was a fluke or if my ultra low blood pressure is finally surrendering to my age, weight, and diet habits, and creeping up on me.
Kaylee has been accepted into a program called "Stranded". It is a Christian survivalist training program. Yes, you read that correctly. One of the instructors is a combat veteran with over 100 undercover missions into "high threat environments", a special ops trainer, a senior adviser to political and military officials on crisis response and emergency management, and his name and face aren't published/released. Another instructor is a certified Wilderness First Responder, trained in survival by Bear Grylls and former British Commandos. Etc. This is a six day training event that combines mission training with survival training. As they put it, "Stranded is Mission Soldier “Basic Training”, and there is nothing else like it on the planet. It is a simulated mission trip to a “dark, dangerous, and despised” region full of tribesmen, wild animals, and rebels. You will go through multiple scenarios and training sessions from instructors (missionaries, wilderness guides, and a special ops instructor). As you journey to reach a remote tribe you will learn what it means to be a Mission Soldier, how to develop a basic missions strategy, and gain tips on how to overcome hostile environments. During this quest you will be given a training manual, a top rated survival knife, a book on missions, and a memory to last a lifetime." So, next June she is planning on spending six days in Franklin, Nebraska at this Stranded base. She's not very outdoor physical. She inherited my inability to run without losing her lungs. This sounds pretty intense to me, but I know a couple of girls she knows has done it, so if they can, she can. She laughed at her youth leader Kasey when Kasey first brought up her doing it. Now a year later she's eager to give it a shot. Partly she likes to do things that she or other people think she can't do. I'm familiar with that mentality.
