Christmas Program & Flying

This whole week has been extra busy.   Last night Steve, Ann, me, Kaylee and her friend Ashtyn all went to the Eastern Christmas program.  It was the first time I didn't take my good camera, the first time I could just watch everybody, see the whole program, rather than staring at my own lovely daughter up there.  I didn't watch it through the lens of a camera.  :)  As always, it started off a little slow, and then built, until by the end they were belting out the Christian portion of it en masse, as always, with the Nativity.  For one thing, I did do a little video recording during a portion of the Nativity, and the Quality of that video off this phone...amazing.  It is so crisp, and clear, and the colors are incredible.  Why couldn't I have had that the last 4 years when Kaylee was in it?!  But man.  I'm so impressed.  Pictures and video are becoming professional quality more and more...off a phone.   This phone video and some of these photos are better than some of the video off my old actual video camera.

Today was a full schedule.  I had people originally scheduled from 10 am until about 8 pm with just a lunch break.  One of my afternoon people canceled, so I flew, ate, did a couple things, flew, flew.  Watched the sun go down on one flight, flew around in the dark on the last flight of the day.

Steve has been hopping getting everything ready for our two Christmas parties.  The lights are mostly up on the airplanes, tables are up, he's working on setting up stations for beverages, food, seating.  Extension cords and ice and...and...and.  Everything.  Spoons.  So much goes into these things, people have no idea.  Friday is our staff, instructors, etc.  Saturday is the general club party.  So far we have over 70 people who have RSVPd to come Saturday.  It's gotten bigger and bigger, started off finger foods and 50 people.  Now some are bringing potatoes and all sorts of stuff, so we added brisket to the finger foods, and even more folks coming out.  Which is kind of fun.  Steve is hoping we have enough seats.  :)

Another busy day tomorrow. Steve and Kaylee and Tre help finish decorating the hangar.  I fly a C-150 with the Texas Taildragger conversion on a demo flight with someone who isn't even a pilot yet, and has zero tailwheel time, because he's buying it.  Funny story, I've never flown one of those and I heard they are squirrely.  The guy coming who is buying it is bringing his instructor along.  The instructor has 2000 hours in these, supposedly, but not in a long time.  But they didn't want him test flying it because it's not his yet.  I understand why they picked me to do it, because they know me and don't know him.  But on paper, they'd be better off with him.  I'll let you know how it actually flies when I get down tomorrow.  ;)  That happens early, and then Nathan and I fly to Illinois to pick up Jamie, and get back in time for me to do a cross country with a kid.  When we're done, I run home and pick up Ann, and we do this party thing.  So, like I said, busy day coming again!
