Weekend Update

Remember when the Weekend Update used to be kind of funny on SNL?  *sigh*

Anyway.

I am currently downloading pictures from this weekend, mine and other people's too.  I know there are a few more folks who haven't had a chance to get to and post their photos yet either.  People got some really good shots of the airplanes this year.  We need some good people shots too.  Kids having fun, face-painting, bouncy houses, food tent, ride line waiters, watching skydivers, etc.  One of these years maybe I'll have more time to wander around and take some pictures too.  :)

The only disadvantage to people posting their videos on Facebook is that I can't download them and keep them.  So I asked one guy to send me his, but other than that I won't have them.  Oh well!

A weird, sad, kind of funny story.  A man we call "Freeloader Freddie" (long story) brought his wife to the event, as usual.  She's in a wheelchair, has a condition where her legs are numb and she could fall.  He wheels her to the bathroom and then stops one of our food server people and says "She might need help" and then LEAVES.  So this lady who is our waitress many times during the week at Grindstone Charlie's, who is only there to help organize and run our food tent, takes this woman into the bathroom and helps her out of her clothing to use the restroom while the husband completely disappears.  WHO DOES THAT??  I told her next year if the same couple shows up (they have every year, and not in the best way), and makes that statement again, to tell the husband that she's not allowed to do that for liability purposes and that he'll have to help his wife of many years go to the bathroom himself.  That sounds callous, but we call him "Freeloader Freddie" for a reason, and have for probably 10 years.  That is so far over the line.  She wasn't there alone and helpless.  Her husband just didn't want to do it, he wanted to go outside and wander around.  Ick.

Kaylee got lost on her way to Glenndale on Saturday, and the GPS devices had the airport in a different location than it really was.  She got a little kerfluffled and upset, but eventually made it, a little late, and settled in and started working.  She had three friends who helped us out at the Bash too.  Meredith, Caitlin and Morgan.  All three did a great job, and at the end of the day two of them hadn't asked, but really wanted to go on an airplane ride, but wanted to go with me, not anybody else.  So I took the 180 and took Morgan and Caitlin up on a ride.  They loved it, they were so funny, and excited.  They screamed on takeoff, we flew around Morgan's house, we circled around, I let Morgan fly some, I did "fat lady skinny lady" and they loved that, and did a snapchat of it.  They kept saying "We're in an AIRPLANE!!!"  "We're not on the GROUND any more!!"  "This is SO COOL!"  "Those houses look like TOYS!"  They were completely amazed.  That's so much fun, seeing people in a plane for their first time, and so excited by it.  It gives Kaylee another little dose of how different her life really is, and how cool flying actually is too.  Her friends "friended" me on Instagram, and when I asked Kaylee whether it was more couth for me to follow them back, or if I should not do that because it would be creepy, she said they said "Yes, totally, I want her to follow me back, she is a BOSS."  So Kaylee told me her friends think I am pretty cool.  That's neat, how many 17 year old girls have friends who like their friends' mom and want them to follow them on social media?  :)  The girls also said they wanted to come back and help out next year and that they had a blast.  Sweet!

Today I only had one flight, thankfully (still recovering), and the rest of the day was spent doing what you'd expect.  Putting Glenndale back to itself, cleaning up, counting money, putting stuff away, etc.   I think we had a pretty good year, so I'm looking forward to seeing the bottom line.

For now, I need to head to bed, as cleaning people will be here in the morning.  You know, the morning I wouldn't otherwise have to get up and leave the house but now I do?  But...clean house.  ;)

I'll be back with more stories as I think of them, and eventually some pictures.  For now there are some on Facebook.  :)
