I forgot to mention yesterday that there was a massive power outage around Kokomo. Our house abruptly lost power, so I pulled up my cellphone, and saw that the power was out over most of the city, plus past Glenndale, into Russiaville, and even as far down as Tipton. I don't know what happened, but SOMETHING big did. It was out for awhile, a couple hours maybe. The house was extremely quiet without the hum of the air conditioner, the computers, the fans. You could hear the crickets outside and yourself swallowing and breathing. I didn't mind though. I like a little silence now and then. I had a flight at 6 pm, but fortunately the airport was one area that was unaffected. Kokomo at least, Glenndale was actually down. But it was a calm, pretty evening for it, and right as I was walking out the door to go fly, the power came back on around the city. Kaylee had to drive home with all the stoplights down, and she was frustrated that people were going in clumps instead of treating it like a 4-way stop, which meant you never knew if someone was going to go in front of you, into you, wait like they were supposed to, etc. But she made it home.
I had a lesson this evening at 6 as well, but he got caught by a court date and canceled. So instead I went to my new SMA Support bank and made a deposit, did quite a few other things around that needed done, and then repositioned the Cub from Glenndale to Kokomo. They are working on the hangar at Glenndale that it's in, and it would have been trapped for awhile. So I moved it so I could still fly it. I took off from Glenndale and the sun was getting close to that Golden Hour. I didn't quite stay up long enough for it, but it was pretty enough as it was. I was up a good hour. It did unwind the knot I had in my chest. I'd chewed off my nails, was tense and having trouble sleeping and just all around kind of wound up, I guess, and I could feel the tension melt away as I watched the sun on the water out the open door. Air Therapy.
I should probably edit these, and bring out the color and such, but I'm tired, and they look all right as is, I think. So, straight out of the camera for ya...
