Labor Day

I saw a post on Facebook that says "It's 97 degrees outside.  Keep your Pumpkin Spice away from my Margarita!"  That made me smile.  I agree.  It's too soon and too hot to be pushing Fall.  Besides, you know what happens after Fall.

Labor Day we did end up going over to Indian Hills for lunch.  There were about a dozen of us, and Jim had pizza and a lot of side dishes and desserts.  It was hot, but it wasn't too bad with a big fan blowing on us.  That used to be a fun tradition, lots of people flying in, staying all day, some even camping overnight.  Now it's down to a hard core handful of people.  I wasn't going to go either, but two of the people who did go basically asked us to please go, so we did.  And we ended up having a nice time with the folks we were with.  And I got to eat good food, which I can't complain about either.

A friend of ours could use your prayers.  Chuck and Judy Rider have been pretty good friends of ours for a long while now.  Judy reminds me of Steve's Mom, because she is always upbeat, always kind, always gentle towards others.  She's a Southern girl too.  :)  Well, Judy has been diagnosed with lung cancer.  She's never been a smoker in her life, but she has about an inch long tumor in one lung.  Worse, she has a couple of small spots on her brain, too.  So it metastasized.  They said the doctors are upbeat about catching the spots while tiny.  She will be undergoing chemo for the lung, and radiation for the brain, and should know a little more after some test results after tomorrow.  But pray for peace and strength for both her and Chuck.  This is rocking their worlds, obviously.

After something that serious it's hard to add photos, but these were taken by a photographer at the Marion Fly-In.  I was just starting to feel like we weren't even there...the fellow who runs the event didn't have any photos of us, but about 6-7 photos of the other ride airplane, and I was feeling left out.  ;)  Anyway, these turned out nice.  And I have to get better about taking photos too, while I'm at an event, to make it come alive later.

This was the lady whose uncle was a P-51 pilot. :)

Justin and I arriving.  The yellow WTC shirt kinda looks nice in there with the helmet.
