Kaylee had a busy Friday. It ended with a party Friday night at a church in town. She drove there, and then her car wouldn't start, so I had to go out and get her. She and Steve got the car back home today. It has some kind of wiring glitch likely related to the remote start. It's always something, huh?
The biggest irony about it is that after she drove to the party, she texted that she didn't want to drive home. She'd had someone pull in front of her and almost hit her at a four-way stop. She was shaken by that, and then used that she was tired as an excuse. I told her that the guy who almost hit her, didn't. That she didn't do anything wrong, and that people were going to make mistakes, including her, and that it was all part of learning. That you can't not drive just because you're a little freaked out, and I told her that we are sick, which doesn't exactly make us safe drivers, besides, we feel awful, and that she needs to suck it up and drive home. She tried "What if I get in an accident because I'm tired?" and I said "You will be nervous and alert for the whole 4 minute drive home, and feel free to put on the air conditioning as needed." She said "Mooooom." I again tell her that this is just something she's going to have to deal with. Over and out. The next text is "My car won't start." I burst out laughing. She wasn't lying, of course, it really wouldn't start. So I had to go get her anyway, very sick. We also made her go to the ortho alone. You've been kicked out of the nest, baby bird, we'll be there if you REALLY need us, but it's time to grow those wings. ;)
(Yes, I'm still sick, Steve too. I may be on the other side of the curve at least though, as my head is more clear fog-wise. Just not my lungs or sinuses.)
