Last night I had a night flight, making me get home too late to feel like writing. Kaylee actually had stuff to do yesterday in her first period. They taught her how to laminate, which she actually liked a great deal, and kept her busy. She was fine with that, as long as she's kept busy and needed.
The Cherry family made it in late last night too. Lon's father has passed away, and they are here for the services, which we will all attend tomorrow. He suffered from Parkinson's and dementia. Fortunately the family had all gotten to see him just not too long before he passed. Both Lon and Cathy have lost their dads shortly here now. Both wonderful, Godly men who are loved and missed, but whose families know they are whole and healed again.
When I picked Kaylee up from school today, she made me late for my 4 pm student, as she wanted to pick up a dress from a friend. She's borrowing it for head shots being taken for free by a friend, to use for auditions, for being an extra, etc. Very nice of them to do, as those pro shots usually cost a lot of money.
My now 4:30 pm student was needing to do tower controlled field takeoffs and landings. So we went together to Muncie. The winds weren't supposed to be strong, and yet they were strong enough that had it been about any other student I'd have probably not ended up being able to send them solo. But this fellow is good, and even though Muncie's main runway, also the one into the wind, was closed, leaving him with a direct crosswind of a gusty day, he was nailing it. So I got out, went inside and had a cup of coffee and a small piece of cake, while watching him do his takeoffs and landings.
This is in direct opposition to Steve, who did the same thing the day before, only his guy was sketchy on being able to solo at all even on a nice day, and then somebody shut down the runway after he took off, leaving him circling around awhile before they let him come back in. Meanwhile Steve is inside and sees flashing lights and someone's stuck on the runway, and...that'll give you a heart attack, I tell you. It wasn't our guy though. He was fine, he did great, and everyone walked away.
When I got home around 6:45, I took Kaylee shopping for jeans. She lost one of her two pair, so it was sort of an emergency. We were out until 8 pm. While we were at the store I called in for Japanese carryout. They said it would be ready in ten minutes. It was one roll. I got there in ten minutes. And waited an additional 20 minutes. With the car running and Kaylee sitting in it. I wanted to go HOME, I was not happy. But okay, it was good. But still. I'm tired, I'm cranky, I'm hungry, and did I mention tired? So now that I've had it, and it's late, and I've written this, I'm going to wander off to bed...
