Cinderella

I hate it when I realize days have gone by without me posting anything.  Not because I'm that interesting, but because I totally lost track of time!

Tuesday through Thursday I had students most of the day each day.  Nice enough weather to get it done, and we are surprisingly busy for this time of year.

The rest of the weekend has been eaten up with Kaylee's musical, "Cinderella".  Thursday evening was a "Parent's Night" event, where you could go and video tape, photograph, and watch a run-through.  Friday night Mom & Ernie arrived, and Saturday was the first actual performance.  Everyone got up late, so we went to Greentown to get breakfast/lunch at the Amish place in town...which has closed permanently.  Boo.  So we hit Cracker Barrel for an official by-then-lunch.  Kaylee's program started at 4:30, so at 4 we met up with everyone out there.

The program went well.  There are a lot of moving parts, a ton of kids involved, very detailed and nice background sets and props.  For a high school production, it's pretty impressive.  I have soooo many pictures.  Kaylee had a brief singing solo for a line at the beginning, and then was a ballroom dancer.  So she danced the "Gavot" in the background, and then was up front on stage with 3 other couples for a featured dance, the Waltz.  She was a girl who wanted to try on the shoe the Prince was holding, and then she was a "Petal Girl", tossing petals with 3 other girls.  Very graceful and mature looking.  She had a couple of lifts.  She missed the lift on the waltz on Saturday, and nailed it on Sunday.  I'm going to have to put a few pages of photos up because I can't pick...

Saturday evening 8 of us went out to dinner afterwards for a little celebratory evening out after a successful play.  Kaylee had her own cast party to go to, until 11 pm, which they host in a church with lots of adults.  After today's production, they had a pizza party for everyone there at the school as they tore down the sets and such.  It's always a little hard when the production is over with, folks feel a little let down and sad.  But it was a worthy effort and a really nice play.  We all enjoyed it.

The first lift-Kaylee is in hot pink, third girl up on a shoulder.

The next several are the slow but graceful Gavot.

Next up is the waltz.

C'mon, this is adorable.

Petal Girls, scattering petals prior to the wedding.

A girl's skirt fell down here.  Whoops!

The bows.

These next five came from the photographer pro there.

The whole cast!
