Weekend Update

This weather is sucking the motivation to do anything I don't have to do out of me.  We got our first semi-significant amount of snow over the weekend, which would be pretty if the sun was out, but since it's not, it's just dingy grey all over, from the air to the ground to everything in between.  Several schools had a two-hour delay this morning, but Kokomo schools didn't, much to Kaylee's dismay.  :)

I think the change in weather also kicked in some of our sinuses.  Steve was sneezing a lot yesterday, and the right side of my head filled in.  I tried Sudafed and pain meds as the headache that inevitably comes with that started in, but it wasn't helping, so finally I had to take a Claritin D at midnight, which meant I was kept half awake most of the night.  But at least I could breathe and didn't have a headache, so there was that.  ;)

Saturday Kaylee had two high school games to play in the pep band for, so I drove her out there at noon, and didn't end up picking her up until 9:20 pm.  Long Saturday for a kid.  In the meantime, I had a flight after lunch there, and we went up in the 172RG and did a bunch of stalls.  Normal stalls, turning stalls, power off, power on, uncoordinated 45 degree bank turning stall, kicked a rudder at the top of a power on stall, just about everything you can do, all to show that stalls in an RG just don't get very exciting.  I always enjoy that.

Saturday evening was our airport Christmas party.  Congressman Todd Rokita came for a bit over an hour, and gave a talk to update everyone on the Pilot's Bill of Rights, (3rd Class Medical Reform), some potential hang-ups they were looking at along with AOPA, and what the progress looks like.  It was nice of him to come, and I actually think he enjoyed himself.  He seemed to be a down to earth guy.  The rest of the time we just ate and drank and mingled until it was time to pick up Kaylee.  This year I don't think I sat down except for the few minutes it took me to eat my plate of food.  It's a good thing I wore the comfortable low heeled boots instead of the high heeled boots.  ;)

Sunday Steve put up our Christmas tree, Kaylee helped decorate it, and now it's lighting up the deck nicely.  We're not getting a lot of Christmas stuff out because we'll be traveling around mostly for Christmas instead of being here, but the tree is nice and bright and as always it's up about 2 weeks before Christmas and may stay up for a month afterward.  Might as well enjoy it for a little while.

Fortunately I don't have anything I have to do today except Kaylee's Band Banquet tonight.  I say fortunately because I feel a little bit like a zombie after my night of mostly awake sleep-ish.  I'm not looking forward to the banquet, either.  It's a party for the band parents (mostly moms) and the band kids, full of inside band jokes and band awards, band photos and hours worth of sitting while they talk.  At least Steve is coming with me.  Don't think I'd do this one by myself...

Here's our lovely tree.  :)
