I've been fortunate in that, while I'm busy, I'm not usually super busy super early. So I've been able to get some walking done in the morning, sleep in until a reasonable hour, get started on some computer stuff in the mornings, and then once I leave the house, I'm usually busy straight through until fairly late evening, 7-8 pm. I'd rather have it that way, frankly, I do much better starting later and going later than I do when it gets crazy and I'm going from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., which usually happens for awhile during the summer/fall months. That starts getting a little tough. I can't complain too much though since the alternative is what, winter? No thanks. ;)
I have two more Mavrx flights scheduled, for about 6 hours total. They want me to do the 4.5 hour one on Saturday, July 4th. It feels kind of wrong to work like that on the holiday, but in hindsight, it's not, really; I'd probably be out at the airport flying with students anyway. The next one is for Sunday the 5th. That's the day we're taking Kaylee back to camp, so I'll have to do this in the quick window between 10:30 and noon when we need to leave for camp. Hopefully flying this time. The rental car was nice, but you can't beat getting there in 45 minutes vs 5 hours. Seriously.
This week I've been working on being extra good for my medical coming up on Friday. I had salad for both lunch and dinner, even. But don't worry, I had some protein and some carbs with it too, I just passed on dessert. That's hard when you're at Panera, too. (Their bakery makes some killer good bad stuff.) It was a good thing that I couldn't make it down to the weekly dinner with local pilots, because tonight AE brought his homemade vanilla ice cream and put it on a pan of blackberry cobbler, and I could not have turned that down if I'd have gone, and then I'd have been mad that I couldn't behave myself for one solid week. So I saved myself by having students until about 7 pm. :)
Steve's been on a tear with the airshow stuff. It's hard to believe how fast that's coming up. Whether or not the door will be open and the T-6 will be out is anyone's guess, but there's nothing you can do about it, so...
I decided to watch Hannibal while I walked this evening. I watched about 20 minutes of it, and the thought running through my mind was "Whoever is the writer for this show is seriously psychologically messed up." As in, I'd bet you it's a white male between the ages of 25-45. In case you're wondering, that's also the typical profile of your average serial killer. I shut it off. I like a good murder mystery, and psychology interests me, but that's just dark, creepy, gross, and messed up. I don't need that rattling around in my head.
Kaylee has done all her laundry and is waiting to pack for her next camp week. I've got an email in to the camp asking how much of the 20 pieces of paperwork you have to fill out I have to fill out for the second time around. They already have all her information; I don't like filling out papers they already have. :)
One of my students, his parents just bought him a Cub, and he wants me to fly it with him. I found out today that it's got an 85 hp Continental and an electric start. Heh, I'm in! His open pilot clause said you have to have 500 hours total time, and 10 hours in a Cub. I think I've got that covered.
Tomorrow I have a trip to Alabama, leaving at the reasonable (for MBros) hour of 8 a.m., so I'd best file my flight plan, check my weather again (storm dodging may be in order especially for the trip home), and get some sleep.
