Friday the 13th

I saw this on Facebook today and it cracked me up.

I know, I know, I'm kind of messed up, but I can't help it, that made me laugh.  And the first person who says "But it isn't Wednesday/Hump Day!" LOSES.  ;)

This morning I had a student, and it was raining, but the ceilings were high and the visibilities were good, so somewhat to his amazement, we flew in the rain, pattern work.  He did a nice job with it, so his suggestion was that we should fly in the rain more often. The plane got a good cleaning, and I can verify that there aren't actually any leaks in it right now, either!

Glenndale lunch was good, and I took my Italian Cream Cheese cake in, and fortunately the gang polished it off.  I could eat a piece of three of that every day for a very long time.  Cream cheese and sugar, the combination is the nectar of gods.  Mmm.

Kaylee had to stay after school for her DI group.  Finally around 9 pm she texted me and asked if she could do a sleep-over with all the other DI girls in the group, and they'd leave from there to go to the Regional competition down in Fishers in the morning.  I said okay, and that meant I had to pack her a bag and run it out to her.  As I was driving outside of town, I got concerned with the visibilities.  I could tell it was bad, so I called AWOS and found that it was 1/4 mile and fog.  I pulled out my phone and checked, and Nathan and Steve were due back in 45 minutes.  I dropped Kaylee's bag off to her, said goodnight, and then drove to the airport.  On the way out there, the fog got so bad that I couldn't see more than three stripes in the road in front of me, and the roads that had no stripes were tough to stay on.  I couldn't see a single landmark, couldn't see road signs until I was on top of them.  It was really, really weird, it felt like I was wandering in an alien world.  When I got to the airport, I just waited and watched Flightaware.  When they got close, I started stepping outside and listening.  Finally I couldn't take it any more, so I drove my car out to the ramp and parked out there lights off listening.  I heard the Cheyenne coming, saw them kick up the lights, and then saw the plane fly by overhead nice and steady but not coming down.  I ran back to the hangar, on the computer, watching to see what they'd do.  They made another attempt in, and the strangest thing happened.  As they got on short final, suddenly the lights dimmed to almost off, and they didn't do it, and the lights didn't time out.  Don't know what that was.  But after that attempt, they deviated to Indy like good boys, and are currently driving home from there now.

I'll wait up and make sure everyone gets home okay.  It's only 12:30 a.m.  I have time.  ;)
