This morning started with checkride prep flying, with someone who is ready to go as soon as I can convince them that they are ready to go. :) The day ended at 10 p.m., after having a nice long flight doing every conceivable stall entry and recovery possible in a 172, sixty degree bank uncoordinated power off dirty stalls, turning uncoordinated power on stalls, aggressive entries, falling leaf, everything you can get a 172 to do. It was fun. By then it was getting dark, so we went over to Glenndale and did some takeoffs and landings, over the wires on landing and taking off over the wires too, doing a few of those until it was night. We went back to Kokomo where I "failed" the flaps, the landing light and all the panel lights, doing a nice "electrical failure" landing or two out there. I usually do that with someone on their 3 hours of night flight before their license, but the fellow tonight had a different night instructor and hadn't done that before. I'd much rather someone not have to do their first no-light landing on their own, and it's not all that unlikely that it'll happen sometime. :) From the time we took off there were scattered showers all over, which was pretty from the air. We got wet a few times, but stayed out of the heavy stuff of course. The neat one was when it was pure dark, and the rain coming in visibly on the landing light looks like something from Star Wars. He'd never seen that before, so I enjoyed showing it to him. :) We had fun, hit a lot, it was a good experience for him and an enjoyable time for me...
