Sam H from Glenndale fixed my helmet today--the mic wire had broken, so I could hear but I couldn't speak or transmit at all. Normally you'd have to ship it back to the manufacturer who would get to it whenever they got to it, repair it and charge you a pretty penny to do it, plus shipping. Instead I dropped it off at Glenndale right after lunch and he had it fixed in a couple hours or less, and it's ready to go. Wonderful, and I am most grateful, he saved me from a lot of cost and hassle and time!
Kaylee had her first singing lesson today. They did a breathing exercise, a jaw-loosening exercise, and picked a song to work on for next week. She got a binder with information and her teacher recorded a few things on her iPhone for her to practice. Sitting in this teacher's house I got hit with some strange nostalgia and I'm not even exactly sure why. She is a bright, happy, musical (obviously) lady, effervescent really, has two pianos in the small room, for piano and voice lessons, with music-themed throws and blankets around the couch, teaching out of her home, and I almost felt like a kid going to my piano teacher's house for lessons. I can't remember some of my piano teachers. I remember one super strict one, but I can't remember if I had a bright, bubbly one or not, but something triggered some faded memory back there. Maybe it was just the house looking like something from my time. Then they played "I Can Only Imagine", and "El Shaddai", and that didn't help. :) She's a super nice lady who takes her music lessons very seriously, and I hope she'll help Kaylee gain confidence and a stronger voice.
Kaylee and I stopped at a store to pick up a birthday card and gift for a party she is going to tomorrow, and got home sometime after 8 p.m. Steve had been up north working on a computer problem all afternoon, and thankfully got it taken care of in time to come home and relax a little tonight. There are plenty of things to do tomorrow, and then at like 3:45 a.m. Sunday morning Steve is heading out the door to go out to Washington/then Idaho/then Wyoming. Busy few days...
