It was a truly beautiful weather day for our annual Poker Run. Steve got out there early, as always, and I took Kaylee and stopped at Sam's Club and Meijer for the food. She disappeared all day with the rest of the kids and played, taking a break for awhile to do a four-leg-run with Justin in the RG. She had asked me to take her on the Poker Run, and when I told her I wasn't going, she pouted and said "But I wanted to fly today!" So Justin took her around. They didn't win, but she got to fly and she said she had fun. :) We ended up having 30 pilots participate, a few more than last year, lots of good food, and AE made some homemade ice cream which went nicely with Michelle's homemade chocolate brownie. My job was money collector and card/hand cataloger for most of the day. Then I got to go on a leg too. Nathan pulled out the Aerostar and flew us over to Marion, and let me fly us home. What a responsive twin--it makes the 340 feel like a truck. It has the voice-activated panel and voice-activated flight planning. So you hit a button, tell it to go direct, or enter a new flight plan, or delete waypoints, or mute passengers, or whatever you want, by voice only. Way cool, man. :)
I wore out quickly this week, and today's no exception; for once I was ready to go home before about anybody else. But it was a good event, people had a good time, and the Run itself was pretty successful. Always a good way to spend a Saturday.
