Long Weekend, Short Post

We spent Saturday at the airport, and it was a pretty productive day. I got out there at 8:50 a.m. and had everything pulled out and ready to go by 9. I'd thought maybe I was going to do some formation flying from 9-10, but that didn't work out, which was still all good because the T-6 had a ride to give at 10, so everything needed pulled out anyway. The guys got a lot done on airplane maintenance and repair, and the kids alternated between hanging out in the cooler hangar and going out and playing in the heat. I took the Six up just for a quickie before it got put back away, mostly because it was nice to fly it just to fly it and relax instead of...working, I guess.

We all ended the evening at Applebees, and when I got home, I don't think I was awake for another hour. I crawled in bed shortly after 10 p.m. and I slept straight through to about 9 a.m. Apparently I had some catching up to do.

Kaylee got two little fish while I was gone, which she named Marshmallow and Taffy. The first night when I got back from Florida, she showed them to me and said "When I first got them they swam really fast and now they're not and I think they're dying." Oh no we don't. I didn't want fish in the first place, and I got outvoted two to one, but I'm not getting dragged into it this time. Fortunately for her, the fish seem to be doing just fine in there after all. Actually, one nice thing about having the fish tank in her room is that the noise is very soothing, and I think it helps her sleep really well. :)

Today Kaylee got to hit her first swimming of the season, as we went over to Nathan & Tre's for a nice day of R&R. The kids played in the pool while we sat in the shade and enjoyed the breeze for awhile before moving inside to eat. Once we went in to eat, we never did head back out, but the kids ended up back in the pool until after dark. A little ice cream topped off Kaylee's fun, and she fell asleep in the car on the way home. I bet she sleeps real well tonight! Actually, I bet I do too...I'm already sleepy, and it's going to be another busy week...
