Gather

Tornadoes & thunderstorms last night, light blowing snow in big clumps falling from the sky today. And March comes in like a very confused lion.

A popular grass strip south of us called Lee Bottom Field was hit pretty hard by the tornadoes. Their house, hangar, and other buildings all lost the roofs, and one building with all their event stuff in it was destroyed. They are without electricity/power, phone, cell service, or working plumbing, and folks are trying to get down there and get tarps over their buildings to stop the rain from finishing off the job of destroying everything inside. Fortunately nobody was hurt, but they have a really big mess to clean up.

Tonight we joined some folks at Indian Hills and had a delicious meal. Juicy pork tenderloins smothered in a mushroom cream sauce, cheesy potatoes, homemade cherry cheesecake, fruits, veggies, cheese dip, a birthday cake for Michelle who turns 38 on Tuesday, all sorts of good stuff. John Dale did the meat, and he also brought a pan of sushi which he made himself with smoked salmon, and it was really tasty. The fellow has skills, man. Skills. Kaylee tried a bite of the sushi, after making a huge deal out of it (just to us), made faces and all this stuff--and Steve had just given her a bite of rice, basically. Normally when I get Chinese, she just wants a side of rice and eats it plain. She loves rice. Unless she thinks there's raw fish in it. ;)

Chuck and Judy are back from their cruise, and they made it out tonight too, so it was good to see them. :) Jim H has a place down in the area where the worst of the storms and tornadoes hit, but fortunately he was spared. He said it was like a disaster movie driving through there to get back up here, but that his stuff was okay, thankfully.

I ate too much tonight, a hazard of going to things like this, but it was a nice way to spend several hours on a chilly evening...
