Summer Wind-Down

Actually, while school may be starting next week, anyone looking at a thermometer around here would say Summer still has a pretty good grip on us. So after getting all the billing mail out this morning, we took advantage of one of the last days of "freedom" Kaylee has left, and went over to Nathan/Tre's house and went swimming. All afternoon. Well, I sat and read. Kaylee swam. :) There was a whole bunch of kids there in the pool, which was fun because there were plenty of people for everyone to play with. I read, visited a little, and watched butterflies while listening to the sound of happy kids splashing and getting even more tan. We finished off the evening with pizza, wings and breadsticks.

On the way home we got into a discussion about corn and beans. Kaylee couldn't see how bean plants could be as tall as I was telling her they were, so I just pulled off the side of the road and had her walk to the edge of the bean field. She was amazed that they were past her waist. So next we stopped off the side of the road to stand by corn. She looked up and said "That has to be 7 feet tall! That's as tall as Shaq!"
She's grown up in Indiana, but this is the first time she's stood next to a bean plant. Now she knows, and that was my schooling moment for the day. ;)
