The weather still stinks, halting any aviation endeavors. I was supposed to fly a guy to Illinois tomorrow, but of course that isn't going to happen for two reasons. One, the weather still stinks. Two, the weather stinks too much for the plane available and the health of the pilot flying it. Steve is on the mend from the coughing thing, but my cough, of course, will not go away, because I seem to have inherited the Lungs of Lousiness. I drink cough syrup, strong cough syrup, and can't get rid of it. On the bad news front, it interferes with my sleep a lot and with my wallet while I attempt to buy expensive cough syrup that isn't working but you have to keep trying anyway. On the good news front, it's making my abs much stronger again. I woke up from 4-7 a.m. hacking wildly, but at least Kaylee's school canceled thanks to the iced-over roads this morning, so I slept in pretty late to try to recover.
Kaylee didn't do diddly today on her day off, because I didn't do diddly today. She was talking about how one of her friends puts a "heart" as the dot of the letter "i" in her name, and Kaylee was wishing she could do something like that and was bummed that her name didn't have anything that she could dot with a heart. She said she tried to put a heart in the middle of the "l" and it just didn't look right. I suggested she replace the "a" in her name with a heart, and she lit up and has been signing her name that way ever since. Tonight she wrote me a note that says
"Mommy, I'm hungry. Can I have a snack? I love you! Check on me! Love, Kaylee" She then drew a line from the heart in her name to another line that says "P.S. Thanks for the idea!" with a heart for the bottom of the exclamation point. Aww! Anyone else remembering girls in school doing that? Isn't it funny how things come around generation after generation? Friendship bracelets, best friend necklaces, hearts for "i"s, the same games and rhymes and jokes? Hmm. I ought to think ahead about this and see if I can prepare for or head off some of the less fun things I remember from "School Days".
P.S. Pee-wee Herman is one thing that should have died off from the 80's forever. And ever. He was creepy (and not funny) when I was a kid and he's creepier (and not funny-er) now that I'm an adult. He is almost 60 years old. Why is he back? Go away...
