Birthday Begins with a Bang

I got to sleep well after 2 a.m. last night, and woke up just after 4 a.m. coughing and wide awake. I tried to ignore it for awhile, then finally gave up and got up until about 7 a.m. Kaylee's school was on a two-hour delay thanks to icy roads again, so I just took my time getting ready while everyone slept in. I was ready to go back to bed somewhere around 8 a.m., but it was toooo late by then!

Kaylee brought cupcakes to school for her birthday and had a fun day, particularly since it started late and she got to sleep in. :) I ran to the store, then out to Russiaville to pick up the fried chicken for Glenndale's lunch, and hung out there until it was time to pick up Kaylee from school. She dressed up for school today for her birthday, and was excited because as soon as she hopped in the car, we drove down to Noblesville to pick up her friend Maggie for an overnight birthday treat.

The girls had a nice evening, with food and cake and some presents, and then I think the food and the excitement got to Miss M, and she got ill. The girls chilled out then and watched a movie for a couple of hours on the couch, and the evening ended quietly, playing Nintendo DS, with the washer and dryer running non-stop in the background. :)

At the office I was hacking up a lung (on medication) so one of the guys out there who is an RN and had his medical bag with him got out his stethoscope and listened to my lungs to make sure there wasn't anything brewing down there, and other than a minor restriction in the right upper lobe which is "no big deal", I got the all clear. That's handier than a doctor visit any day! I'm also not contagious with anything, just have a post nasal drip thing going that keeps me coughing and choking all the time. He gave me some ideas, and I'll be trying them out to see what helps.

Kaylee had a paper at school for Martin Luther King, Jr. to read, that also had Gandhi, Rosa Parks, and civil rights discussions. At the end it asked the question "Change The World: If you could change the world, what would you do?" Kaylee's response?

"Be the first girl to play football, to stand up and say: Girls can play football; just because we're girls doesn't mean we're weak!"

Hehehe. I'm saving that one.

Kaylee -- I accidentially posted your birthday wishes on Thursday's blog. Don't know how I did that! :-(
