I'm declaring today a victory day, because not only did Kaylee eat healthy food, she chose it totally on her own, without supervision or being pushed. She bypassed a fudgesicle for pineapple chunks and ate mandarin oranges instead of a Little Debbie cake. Go Kaylee! :)
The roads were good enough that I could drive the Corvette today while Steve had the Jeep for a day chock full of flights, and that way we could both get out and about. Homemade chili for lunch with chunks of melty cheese in it was a bonus. Afterwards took the Baron to MIE and back for a plane pick-up, and landed with JUST enough time to push it away, swap vehicles with Steve and arrive at Kaylee's school at 3:01 p.m. She gets out at 3. Perfect.
Kaylee and I have had a fun afternoon, just messing around. Some days with parenting it can feel like it's all about "do this" and "don't do this" and "no you can't" and "finish up" and "go" and "stop it". As strange as this may sound, it's nice to have slow time to just hang out and talk and laugh and enjoy each other's company as people.
Steve worked all day long, flying from 8 a.m. through lunch and getting home from his last flight at almost 7 p.m. I ran through a drive through and dropped him off a sandwich and fries to snarf down in between two flights. It's nice to make up a bit for an entire week's worth of nasty weather that has grounded all flights, but it's exhausting to make up for it all in one day.
The rest of my day was the usual housework, running around, paperwork, internet work, yadda yadda. Now it's Friday night, we don't have to get up early for any reason tomorrow, and it's time to have a little relaxation. :)
