I was supposed to take a nice cross-country flight this morning with a student to Portland, (Indiana, not Oregon) but when I got to the airport it was to find 1/4 mile and fog along the route of flight. That was irritating considering it was completely clear with blue skies above. We waited almost an hour with no luck, and eventually he went on home and I pretty much did nothing of any import out at the airport until lunch. The skies cleared up after lunch, of course, but by then the plane was already scheduled with someone else and Kaylee was out of school at 11:30 today while Steve had flights for the afternoon, so we were just "plane" out of luck. Next week looks like cold rain. Greeeaaat.
Today it was Culvers who gave free meals to veterans, and this time we went early and got there before the biggest crowds arrived. We sat in front of a table that held a couple who were both bound and determined to be miserable. Every time I accidentally tuned in to them they (mostly she) was/were complaining in that irritating snarky tone of voice. I hope the rest of their day went better and they got all that negativity cleared out of their system. Kaylee was able to eat with us because she had a half day today while the teachers and administrators had an "admin day". A half day of school and chocolate ice cream on the same day made her a very happy kid. ;)
The rest of my day was just maintenance. Billing, paperwork, errands, phone calls, emails, housework. Little bites on projects to keep everything from getting too far behind again. I also had Kaylee clean up half her room and throw away a trash bag full of old toys and things she didn't want any more. The other half of her room is due to be cleaned tomorrow, including hanging up all her clean laundry, which is her least favorite job in the world (mine too). For tonight, time to relax though!
