Kaylee's been on school break since she left school on Tuesday afternoon dressed up in her Pilgrim gear plus a new black hat that the school gave to all the girls. Wednesday I took her to McDonald's PlayLand to celebrate her freedom from school, and she got lucky and had two different rounds of kids that came in that held girls about her age. They became almost instant friends, played for a total of three hours, and hugged when they left for the day. Things come so easily to children that aren't so easy for adults, don't they? :)
Thanksgiving Day dawned as much of the previous week or two has-gray, cold, overcast and spitting rain...the main difference being that it was more mixed with snow this time. We stayed indoors at home until almost noon, then went and joined Nathan and Tre and family and friends there and spent a relaxing, enjoyable day eating way too much, watching football, drinking and chatting. I even got to steal Ryan & Holly's 2 month old baby for awhile and snuggle. She fell asleep on me as most babies seem to do, and I enjoyed her little fuzzy head on my neck and the baby milk smell for awhile. We stayed a little later to let Kaylee and the kids play for awhile extra, and made it home after dark practically in a food coma. The good kind, of course. Tre can certainly cook up a mean meal. Tender turkey, delicious pies, I think Holly made the potatoes and they were awesome also. All the side dishes, and the fresh, homemade pies of various flavors? I'm getting hungry thinking about it again...
I thought about writing out what I am thankful for, but while I am indeed thankful for much, every day and not just this one day when we are 'supposed' to be thankful, I am not feeling like blogging about it.
Black Friday lived up to its name. Going past Target showed a parking lot so packed out it had spilled over into McDonalds. From what I've heard second-hand, people came out in droves, early, and really hit the whole shopping thing hard. Kaylee asked me last night if I'd take her shopping on "Black Friday", and I told her that I loved her and would do about anything for her, but I wouldn't do That, and she'd have to find a friend or family member sometime when she's older who would love to go do that with her.
I'm on vacation for a few days here and haven't done much and don't plan on doing much other than keeping up with the bare necessities of dishes and civilized life. I hope you and yours are enjoying the Thanksgiving Holiday and all it entails!
