Thursday's Journeys

The morning's flights were cancelled due to a nice big wad of rain/storms moving through complete with gusty winds and low clouds. That wasn't all bad though, since I was a little tired. I'm still not used to getting up this little bit extra early now that Kaylee's school has started up. It also ended up working for Steve, who ended up with a computer related emergency at one of his client's places of business, and it was a big one. The weather being too bad to fly made it "easier" to go work on that without stranding anyone.

After lunch, I took Chuck over to Muncie in the RG to pick up Nathan and Steve C. who had dropped off the Cheyenne. The winds were still gusting into the mid twenties and it was a tad bumpy, but really not too bad. I rode in the back on the way home for my first time back there, and sighed when my good landing into Muncie was beaten by a better landing into Kokomo by Nathan. ;)

Tonight was the monthly EAA Chapter meeting. I carpooled with Chuck, Jim S. and Sam, and we drove over to Graber's farm/runway out in Bunker Hill. He is known for always having really good homemade ice cream-I had the butter pecan, and I can tell you straight up that was some of the best ice cream I've had. There was a pretty good turn-out tonight, because nobody wanted to miss the ice cream-Dale was pretty mad he had to miss it because of a family reunion thing. Mrs. Graber was very sweet-she came up to me and said "I think I'm going to get out of here, but if I do, you'll be the only lady here. Will you be okay if I leave?" Yes ma'am. :) Very kind woman, and she makes a wonderful homemade salsa, too. The area is very pretty-there's a little river right there, a screened in porch area which you can kind of see in this picture, and a lovely grass strip about 1400' long. I could really enjoy a place like that. Ben (Graber) is building up a couple of airplanes in his hangar there, and they make airplanes #5 and 6 that he has built over the years. Very impressive. We stayed until the sun went down and enjoyed the company...

Kaylee is taking a pair of reading glasses to school tomorrow. She's been complaining that her eyes are blurry when she's trying to read at school. Yet she reads at home just fine when she doesn't know we're watching her. But I've got her in the queue for an eye appointment, and in the meantime she can take these glasses that she claims helps her, and we'll see what Doc Mike has to say soon.

Kaylee has also been excited lately because she's really tuned into her devotional book. She's found several verses and several devotions that meant something to her, that spoke to her, that provided comfort and guidance. She told me today that she was a little worried because she didn't feel as close to God today as she did the last few days, but she seemed to really understand when I told her that God doesn't walk away from her no matter how she feels right then, that He's always there by her side, even on the days when she was feeling down or sad or tired. That she may look away from Him, but He would never look away from her. Reading the devotions before she goes to bed really seems to help her with her sleep issues too. But what is the most fun for both Steve and me is when she comes out of her room after having read something, reads it to us, and tells us exactly what it means to her, and not only does she really seem to get it, but she's excited to understand it too. Some of the stuff she has come up with lately has been really pretty deep. We enjoy watching her learn and grow...

These quotes have nothing to do with the above topics, but here you go anyway. :)

"It isn't the people you fire who make your life miserable, it's the people you don't."
~Harvey Mackay

"Good people are found, not changed. Recently I read a headline that said, ‘We don’t teach people to be nice. We simply hire nice people.’ My, what a clever short cut."
~Jim Rohn
