"There were times that he'd felt like Snoopy in those Peanuts cartoons, where all he's doing is dancing and dancing and dancing, while Lucy's raving all around him, shouting stuff at him like "Famine! Pestilence!" and so forth, and all Snoopy does is just dance a little harder."
You ever feel like that? I don't know about anyone else, but my legs get tired easier than they used to.
Steve and I appreciated an email we got from his sister Cathy with pictures of what she and our nieces did in honor of Devon yesterday. Devon loved bubbles, was fascinated by them, so they went out and blew bubbles for him in honor of his "angel" day, and sent on several lovely photos. Thank you, ladies, for the smile, even while I know you had plenty going on in your own world. :)
Kaylee was excited to be able to have Maggie come over and play for awhile today too. It's always fun to spend time with a friend, right? I'm glad we have the opportunity to take more advantage of that this year than we have in the past. I would take them to the park to play outside, but in case you haven't noticed, it's hot, in the 90s in fact, and even the kids don't want to play outside today. Wusses. Kids these days. ;) (What we need is a pool out there, but don't tell Kaylee I said that.)
We've got a couple of visitors dropping in on the airport tonight on their way up to Oshkosh. An autogyro and a Swift. That autogyro sounds like kind of a pain to me. It can't handle hardly any wind and isn't exactly stable or sturdy. I don't like to be limited in my flying to perfectly calm VFR days, I don't like to be limited to short little legs prior to needing to stop and "check things out", and I don't like to be limited in my flying to "I hope this thing doesn't break apart", either. On a side note, this is why I'm not all that impressed with flying lawn chairs, either. I'm not picky. I'd probably take a glider, I'll take a low and slow taildragger, I'll take a trainer, I'll take the heavier more stable single engine family planes, I'll take the cruisable and fun light twins, I'll take the more powerful mid-sized twins, I'll definitely take the loud and proud radials and Merlins...and I'll pass on rubber band-wound engines and flying eggbeaters. I'd rather fly a C-150, sort of. At least I'd know IT would most likely stay in the air, as long as proper maintenance was done on it that is.
Listing out airplanes made me want to go do some flying, until I stepped outside and felt the 90 degree heat and the good ole Indiana muggy factor. Maybe on a nice evening coming up here. Go do a bit more instrument currency in the Baron? Lower the fuel bill and take the Citabria around with the window wide open? Go work on aerobatics in the Decathlon? Take the T-6 up for some work and some fun, or take it and have Steve go back up in the RG so we can do more formation practice off it? Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, or rocky road...it's all good.
Signing off, a little tired, but still dancing.
