Well, I have 30 things to do by the end of tomorrow, and I don't even want to see Steve's list. I haven't been home at all during the day for most of the week, most of the afternoons and even many of the evenings have been taken up with things to do, and when we finally do get home, it's been a lot of work. Steve's been working non-stop on the phone and computer until past midnight most every night, and while I stopped to watch a few season finales, I've been busy too until bedtime. You wouldn't believe what it takes to organize one event...and we've got at least three that he's working on simultaneously along with several other big projects, all of which need things asap from people left and right. Meanwhile his flying schedule is booked up and his computer job is in the middle of a really big, really important project as well. This is all a bit of lunacy, actually, with no clocking out for the foreseeable future. These are the times a 9-5 steady paycheck job's benefits are more apparent...
On the other hand, this pretty sunny morning I got to work with someone on crosswind take offs and landings for over an hour, and that's always a good way to spend your time. Better yet, after lunch I asked Nathan to demonstrate some...okay, just take me for a ride in the T-6, and that was the best stress relief of the week. We flew around some, looked around, did a whole fun aerobatic routine with all sorts of stuff, just had a partly relaxing, partly thrilling, all grin-inducing flight. I needed that. I also need to work more on my aerobatics. After that, my poor little roll and loop seem kind of sad. ;) These are the times a 7-midnight always uncertain paycheck job's benefits are more apparent...
This afternoon, I got down just in time to get Kaylee out of school just in time to run her to gymnastics, run the series of errands I haven't had time to do in a few days, get her home and fed and bathed, then dressed and right back out the door to the Chapter meeting for our local EAA group (Experimental Aircraft Association). It was held at Indian Hills tonight, where the host lives in a hangar on a nice little grass strip. Don't laugh-his hangar has a nice apartment in it with air conditioning and all the comforts. It's a nice set up. We had a very tender pork tenderloin and all the "fixings", pans of home made dessert, drinks of your choice, watched a couple of little planes fly, got a little business done, and stayed until the sun went down. It was a beautiful evening for it, and the only downside was when the sun went down, the mosquitoes decided to show their faces (suckers?) for the first time I've seen this year. That's when we all called it a night and headed on home.
Kaylee got a snack and went to bed, and Steve's been on the phone or computer ever since (it's now 11:15 p.m.) and I've finished making changes to a brochure and have it on its way to be printed up and am working on some other things for tomorrow, including organizing how I'm going to get done what I need to get done, which right now doesn't seem possible. Tomorrow we have a kindergarten class coming out to the hangar, and after that we'll need to get set up for the Poker Run which starts bright and early at 7 a.m. (O-Wrong-Thirty) the next morning. My Mom & Ernie are coming into town Friday evening as well, but they will have to love me regardless of the picked-up status of my house. ;) Kaylee can't wait!
Guess I'd better get back to it...
