Tonight I took my camera to take still shots. The lighting was a lot better than it was at the previous other schools, but I still had to choose between no flash and subsequent blurriness sometimes or flash and red eyes, bad color and it being too far away to be really effective anyway. Fortunately I think they mostly turned out pretty well anyway, and you can see them here. I also brought my little Canon camera with video capability and gave it to Steve so he could get video clips of her doing her stuff for me to put up. I gave him a quick run-through on the camera, but didn't think to tell him to be pointing it at the kids before he hit "record", which meant that several of the videos are focused on something besides Kaylee and really fuzzy. At least you can tell it's her because of the orange dress. ;) I also have a video of the guy in front of us-at least his rear end-Kaylee and I laughed hysterically when we watched that one! Hey, I got plenty of still shots. Anyway, it was a nice evening, and she did well. :)

The Program
Tonight was Kaylee's end-of-school program. Her last day of school is now almost two weeks after the school's "graduation"
thanks to all the snow days and school delays for nasty weather all winter. The kids did a nice job, and Kaylee had several "solo" parts. The administrator had asked Kaylee's teacher to pick someone to get up in front of the whole program and make the announcement to "Please stand and join us in saying the pledges", and Mrs. H immediately said "Kaylee, definitely." So Kaylee got to open the program that way. Then they handed her the Bible and told her to stand back up front so we could do the pledge to the American flag, the Christian flag (which were both on stage) and then the Bible. They sang various songs, and said The Lord's Prayer in Spanish, with each child learning a phrase and going to the mic to say it. They each said a verse as well. The last song of the night, Kaylee opened with a solo singing line, then two other girls had solo lines, then they all sang together. She was right on key and not shy at all, and she sounded really nice. The end of the program involved the kids all getting awards. Some were silly, some were academic. The first nine awards were created by the kids and voted on by the kids. Kaylee's award was "Best Dramatic Performance in Class." What a shock. ;) She was also one of two kids from the school who had Perfect Attendance.
