Something Wicked This Way Comes

Actually, most of it is missing us, barely. We've had warnings for severe thunderstorms and tornado watches today, lots of gusty winds and a little rain, but per usual, to the north and south of us both is what is getting hammered. Of course as I was typing this, we lost power, after which I spent a good 10 minutes rebooting modems, routers, computers, four clocks, televisions, a few lights and the dryer, only to lose power again. *sigh* It sure is quiet in the house with everything electrical off and no humming, beeping, ticking, whirring, etc.

I woke up this morning at the reasonable hour of what used to be 8 a.m. but thanks to "Springing Forward" was now 9 a.m., cancelled a flight due to poor weather, read up on a few things, and waited for everyone else to wake up. I hadn't even eaten lunch yet when I found myself lying on the couch, huddled under a "Hello Kitty" blanket, cuddling with an 8-year-old who was watching Kid TV, and I woke up about two hours later after what can only be called a Wicked Nap.

After I left, she buried herself in a massive pile of her own stuffed animals, and spent a little time there until she decided she was buried alive and sprang forth. ;)

We three then entered into Wicked Straightening Mode. I cleaned up one cat pee and five cat puke spots off of my carpet to start with, then Steve and Kaylee hit the front of the house, taking down their campsite, picking up her room, etc. while I hit the back of the house, laundry, dishes, yadda. Mission House Pick-Up, Accomplish...ing.

Now that the storms have passed, Kaylee is outside swinging in the sunshine and just laughing. She told me yesterday that when it's always cold and dark, it makes her feel all bummed out, but when the sun comes out she feels happy. I hear you, girl! You know, I've enjoyed these Spring-like temperatures the last few days; I just wish they weren't accompanied by gale-force winds. What I am waiting for is four forces to come together all at the same time. Nice temperatures, normal winds/weather, a functioning airplane out of maintenance, and money for gas...because the last Wicked Thing that is coming is a serious case of the Wicked Twitchies.
