Steve had a meeting at Glenndale this morning, and I drove to the pharmacy to pick up the antibiotics for Kaylee's ear infection, which is orange flavored even though Kaylee insists it tastes like "paint". :) She gets 3 doses a day for 10 days, and is oh so thrilled about it!
I brought her hat with us to cover her ears, and went out to the airport to hang out for the day. Steve came out when he finished his work at Glenndale, the kids played in the other hangar, rode bikes and scooters and all that good stuff, and four-five guys all worked on getting an internet issue resolved.
At the end of the afternoon, I took the T-6 up for the first time in 4 months. You know, 600
horses sounds pretty good in the Baron. 2000 horses sounds pretty good in the Cheyenne. But other than the 1495 horses in the Mustang, not much sounds better to me than the 600 horses behind the round engines. Mmm hmm.I really don't know how long I flew. I did some steep turns, slow flight, stalls, "dutch rolls" (or whatever you want to call it depending on who you are), and came in and did some takeoffs and landings-short, wheel, mostly 3-point. I half expected to revisit my recovery skills after the hiatus, but I was mostly pleasantly surprised. A little wandery on my first rollout, but otherwise it felt pretty good for where I am. I just wore my Bose headset instead of the helmet because there was nobody in the plane with me and I didn't have to worry about hearing, and I wanted to feel the breeze on my head. I didn't have a hair scrunchie with me though, so when I'd have the canopy open, that had to look pretty funny with all this hair sticking straight up. The workout felt really good, and I think my mood improved about 60% in a two-hour time frame.
I put up a few photos on a page that has miscellaneous pictures I took in the Citabria yesterday and pictures Justin was kind enough to take of me in the T-6 with his cellphone today...
I could have kept going a lot more, but Steve, Kaylee and Chuck were all down there waiting on me so they could go home, so I came on in. :) We closed things up, headed home and had dinner, I made gooey brownies that are only half baked for me and Kaylee (and Steve gets the crunchier edge pieces) and tonight Steve and Kaylee are doing their camping out in the front of the house together thing. I have been invited, but I don't want to step on tradition. It has nothing to do with having a king-sized bed all to myself for a night. Nope! ;)
