I had a flight this morning in the 172 down at Sheridan for a bit over an hour. It was a fairly windy day, good practice for the student doing ground reference maneuvers, crosswind landings, etc.
I have stared at this for awhile now and still have nothing of import to discuss. So I'll pass on something a (usually liberal) comedian for a joke list thing I get wrote:
I read the following quote from Jay Leno this morning, "Sen. Chris Dodd, after first denying it, now admits that he's the one who eliminated the provision in the stimulus package that outlawed excessive bonuses. Coincidentally, he just happened to receive $280,000 from AIG in campaign contributions. What are the odds of that?"
At first I didn't believe it, but I looked it up on an independent news site (not that I don't trust Jay Leno's joke writers) and it's true!
In my opinion those billions of dollars shouldn't have been handed out if the first place. BUT...what the government is doing is criminal-it's called the old "Bait and Switch."
First you say, "Sure you can give all your executives the bonuses you promised them. Don't worry, it's your money." Then you come back after they've spent the money and say, "By the way, we're going to tax you at 90 percent on any bonuses paid. No, no such tax law exists, but don't worry, we'll write one."
These guys strike me as silent movie villains. I'm surprised black top hats and twirly mustaches are not more in vogue in Congress.
