More Mondays

Kaylee came wandering out of her bathroom this morning whining "Mommmmmy, there's a giant black spider in my bathroom, and he just walked into my closet." I responded with a "gross!", to which she said "Well, go kill it!" I told her I wasn't killing it, no way. Of course that was a job for the father figure. I heard things sliding and dropping and banging in there while apparently Spidey gave him a chase, and he came out with paper towel in hand declaring victory and admitting that was a bigger, gross one after all. I had the creeps for a good 15 minutes. This is one of about only three reasons winter is any good at all--spiders are at a minimum when it's cold at least. Yuck.

Unfortunately, I lost my morning. I've been so tired the last couple of days. I got home from taking Kaylee to school and fell back asleep until an unreasonable hour, and after lunch I had to fight off sleep again. Not sure what the deal is there, but I found out at lunch today I'm not the only one of us who is running rather lethargic. Not that knowing that helps me get up any better in the morning, but hey. :)

Kaylee couldn't stand it any more, and just HAD to give me a birthday present early. She was talking to Steve in there for a long time, and when he came out, he said that he already talked to her a lot about it and that she was insistent. Come to find out, Kaylee decided to give me a large chunk of the money she has saved up over the last several months, and she could not be talked out of it. Steve debated on telling her she just couldn't, but she really, truly wanted to, so we let her make that decision herself. It was a big gift, and very sweet of her...

After dinner, she and I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and she wanted to decorate a couple. So I took food coloring and white icing, made purple icing, got out the sprinkles, and she doctored up a couple of cookies. We did our usual tradition of each eating one ball of raw cookie dough, too. Yum. And no, I am not willing to give up raw cookie dough on the off chance of salmonella. I've made it 36 years 364 days eating cookie dough just fine, and I'm drawing my line in the Safety vs. Security Sand right there. ;)

Tomorrow I'm supposed to fly with a student, but we'll see if the storms we are supposed to get will allow that or not...
