Life

I took Kaylee to McDonald's PlayLand today, where she spent three hours running around and playing. When we first got there, she was a little discouraged because everyone that came there was there with a sibling and had a ready-made playmate with them. So Kaylee stood by my chair for a minute and said "how am I supposed to play by myself?" I told her she played by herself all the time, and asked her what she did here. She got a thoughtful look on her face and then said "Well, I turn this playground into a body. There is the heart in the center, those are the legs, (etc.), and maybe if I just start playing maybe I can get the others to play with me." Three hours later she still had a small group of kids playing with her 'body' playground, chasing and running and hiding and having fun. A good imagination and a bit of an extrovert personality will make for rarely having trouble finding playmates. When it was time to go there was a hefty round of "Goodbye Kaylee!"s and a couple of "hey, can we meet back up here next Saturday?"s too. Ah the ease with which friendships are made when one is seven. :)

I read the latest Belva Plain book for my "girly" reading material today. Actually there was a good amount of insight in there too. The unsuccessful pursuit of happiness through external validations, Faustian bargains, romantic love vs life's realities, the devastating effects of jealousy on not just the person harboring it but on everyone around them, the fragility of money, strength of character to do the right thing especially when it is hard, etc. Not the light reading I originally intended, but I enjoyed it none-the-less.

Well, time to finish up a few things before school and cheer start up in full swing tomorrow...
