It was Fried Chicken Friday at Glenndale today, and we had homemade mashed potatoes, not homemade gravy but still good, rolls with butter...it was quite tasty. I left there, picked up Kaylee from school, and took her on an errand run with me before coming home and relaxing. I actually fell asleep for a little while there.
This evening, a small group of ladies got together for dinner. We try to do it about four times a year or so, for our birthday celebrations, and we hadn't done it in a long time. So it was nice to do that-we were there for over 3 1/2 hours, so I guess there was a lot to catch up on. :)
Kaylee is struggling a little with the girl "M" in her class again. She told me today that she wanted to "set her up" so that the teachers would catch this girl doing the stuff to them that she does. Apparently M will do something or say something so that not only will she not get caught, but that if anybody reacts, THEY get caught and in trouble while she doesn't. This drives Kaylee insane, and she told me today she was going to start something with M so M would get busted for once. I've had this conversation several times now, and she understands about two wrongs not making a right, and she understands that I don't want her to be like M, that doing the wrong thing won't make anything better, she knows what Jesus would want her to do...but the injustice of this girl getting away with stuff just lights her up. Today M stepped deliberately on Kaylee's hand when they were working on a project, and Kaylee reacted kind of instinctively by pushing her away from her. She came home and said "Sometimes I just wish she wouldn't show up at school any more." I told Kaylee that this was probably good practice in patience and in handling things the right way since there would always be people she would run into in life who would be kind of...jerks. Kaylee snorted and said "KIND of a jerk? She's not KIND of a jerk, she IS a jerk." Which initiated another conversation on being kind... I do know how she feels though-it's difficult to feel anything but irritation for those people who seem to have a goal of causing you problems in life. I did get her to agree with me that it was pretty sad for someone to be so unhappy that they had to spend their days trying to make other people unhappy too.
The sun was shining beautifully on a row of icicles we have hanging off our garage. I tried to get a picture to show them, but never really got a good one. Here is an example though.I'm back to tired, so I'll end with some quotes...

"I will waste not even a precious second today in anger or hate or jealousy or selfishness. I know that the seeds I sow I will harvest, because every action, good or bad, is always followed by an equal reaction. I will plant only good seeds this day." -- Og Mandino
"You will become as small as your controlling desire; or as great as your dominant aspiration." -- James Allen
"I don't think change is stressful. I think failure is stressful." -- Bob Stearns
"An idealist believes the short run doesn't count. A cynic believes the long run doesn't matter. A realist believes that what is done or left undone in the short run determines the long run." -- Syndey J. Harris

"Be humble for you are made of earth.
Be noble for you are made of stars."-- Serbian Proverb
