Last night I was sooo sleepy when I finally laid down, but as soon as I was ready to drift off pleasantly to sleep, my mind engaged. I started thinking about the party, the people I'd seen, talked to, what we'd talked about, food, then I started thinking about flying this that and the other, even going so far as flying a pattern in my head, which is slightly nuts when you are trying to go to sleep, and then I thought about...well, you don't care what I thought about. But I watched the whole night go by, completely unable to shut off. So around 5:30 a.m. I gave up and got up, came out onto the couch and grabbed my book and just read. Around 8:30, Kaylee came stumbling in, saw me on the couch, stretched out next to me and on top of me, and passed out cold. She was so warm and cozy and sweet, I read and watched her sleep and read and watched her sleep until finally I was so tired my book wasn't making sense any more. Of course as soon as I put the book down and felt that "I'm sinking into a drugged sleep" feeling, Kaylee was awake and running around within 15 minutes. I dozed for awhile on the couch, but didn't really want to go out because if I sleep too much I won't be any good tomorrow. I finished my book, am watching a Colt's game while Steve & Kaylee take a nap, and feel a little bit like I drank too much Nyquil. All fuzzy and far away. So something tells me nothing much of importance will happen to report today. ;)
It was enjoyable cuddling with her while she slept though. She's getting so tall, so mature, and our times of cuddling are slowing down a little. But for a little while this morning, she was soft and warm and calm and little and I could feel her heart beating against me, just like I used to, and it made me smile.
Of course right now she's piling pillows and blankets on her dad, walking on the treadmill, and making a disaster area of the living room, which she will be very unhappy to clean up in a few hours. Hurricane Kaylee is back. As it should be. :)
