There's Always One

I am apparently not in the mood to write about my day these last few days! Let's see. I flew 2 hours this morning. Stayed up too late last night and have been dragging all day. Had lunch at Applebees with the crew. Got Kaylee and took her to cheer, ate dinner with Steve, and sat around dragging the rest of the evening.

I did wake up to our first little snowfall today, and the flight this morning was complete with little snow showers here and there too. It smells and looks and feels like winter. Blah.

When I picked Kaylee up from school, she was excited to tell me about a birthday party she had been invited to from school. Then she told me that another girl in the class had said she didn't think she wanted to go, because it would probably be a "loser party". This comment of course made the birthday-girl-to-be cry. Next this lovely child got mad at Kaylee, and said that if Kaylee was going to the party, she didn't want to be there. My response to this to Kaylee was "That's okay, isn't it? If she doesn't go, she'll be the one to miss out on the fun, not you." Kaylee said "Yeah, and she'll miss chocolate cake and princess fun, too!" We also had a conversation about being hurtful to others. I heard about this at 2:50 p.m. and I STILL feel bad for the little girl, and I still want to take the other one aside and have a conversation with her, too. This is not the first time I've heard of very harsh, almost cruel things this other girl has said. Last year we had Queen K. This year we have Mistress M, who isn't manipulative to that extent so far, just...mean. I wish they had parents who would try to teach them kindness, and I wish kids could have longer...innocence.

Steve buggered up his shoulder pushing against the water-filled water heater for a little house-cleaning project we had. He's decided he's not quite as young as he used to be. ;)

Oh, Kaylee fell out of bed last night. We were still awake sometime after 1 a.m., and we heard this big THUD. She really hit hard; we heard her clear across the house. A brief pause while we waited for the shriek that didn't happen, and Steve was the one who went on in to check on her. She was passed out cold on the floor, still fast asleep. So he left her there, came back to the room, got back in bed, and I said something along the lines of "you saw she was still breathing, right?" Another pause, an "Oh, thanks for that", and he went back in there to check on her again. Of course she was fine, so he lays back down, settles in, and then I hear this Sigh and "I know she's fine. She's not knocked unconscious, she's just asleep." Pause. Annnd, he's up one more time. LOL It really was a big thud, otherwise there wouldn't have been a question, but it was a "man that had to hurt" sounding thud, you know? She woke herself up a little later and crawled back up in her bed to finish off the night. :)
