Unwinding...

Happy Father's Day to all you dads (and thus grandpas too) out there. I hope you each enjoyed your day. Kaylee made her dad a card that I thought was really sweet, and it was all her idea. She created a card that said "Happy Father's Day" on the front, and then on the inside she numbered, listed and drew matching pictures of several of her favorite things to do with him. She's a lucky girl with a good daddy and he's a lucky guy with a sweet girl. :)

I'm sitting here typing this while the wind and rain are blowing and the thunder is rumbling. We've got another severe storm going through-and in fact we lost power for a few seconds at the house here. I expected Kaylee to start screaming in the dark, so I ran up to the front of the house, only to find her plastered against the window watching the storm. Steve's on the deck with a friend watching the storm from the comfort of the indoors, and I'm doing it from the living room, out the windows. We are a storm-loving family, I guess. Well, we love them as long as the storm isn't quite violent enough to disturb our home, and as long as we are not trying to fly in it. :)

My mom went home today, and after she drove out of the driveway, Kaylee collapsed against me, bawling about how she wanted her Grandma back. She's really tired, has been running non-stop for about a week, and is just a little emotional. She's also been used to non-stop attention for a few days here, so the quiet days coming will probably take a little bit of getting used to for her.

I don't know why, but these last couple of days I've heard bizarre news stories that just leave you shaking your head. The guy who went up as a sightseer on a skydiving jump plane and decided to commit suicide by jumping out of the plane after the skydivers left, sans a parachute. As Nathan said, if a person was going to do that, they ought to wait until they're only 100 feet in the air, not 10,000 feet, because it will still do the job but leave much less time to see it coming. Personally I'm a little horrified by that action and whatever despair left him feeling it was the best choice, but it's still an odd news story, compounded by the problem that the pilot who was also the owner of the business was operating quite illegally and thanks to this guy jumping will now be shut down and in quite a bit of trouble. Another odd news story was a woman in Florida who was fired for laughing with a customer. Her boss said that his bar was a quiet, restful place and when she laughed for a minute with a customer, it ruined the atmosphere-even though no patrons complained that she was laughing, and her laugh was not "unusual or unpleasant". Oookay. Why am I telling you this? I don't know. Because they are odd and they stuck in my head, I guess.

I did get a video of doing an aileron roll in the T-6 after all, which you can see here if you have high speed internet. Don't even try, mom. ;)
Well, my day wasn't really noteworthy and I can't think of much to impart, so I'll catch up to you tomorrow. :)
