Balance, Bombs, Busy & Boy oh boy

I spent today through 3 pm working on the computer, whittling my emails back down below 100 again, trying to catch up on a few things. I do hate how long it is taking me to respond to things I used to be able to be right on top of. I guess I have more things to be on top of now than I used to back when I used to focus almost exclusively on the SMA stuff. I would spend literally 8-16 hours a day working on SMA things, and I was able to get done what I needed done usually immediately. Now I have balance in my life with family, friends, income-generating work, flying for work and pleasure, and SMA; but that also means that I can't sustain the same level of focusing on one thing like I used to, and I have had to let many things go to other people who can take over and be more there than I now can.

Today has also been spent avoiding and cleaning up cat bombs. I woke up this morning to cat throw-up right outside my door. Coming into the living room, there's another pile by Steve's chair. Wandering back to Kaylee's room finds another pile by HER door. I get all those cleaned up, and then I come home from lunch, and Dulcie sits on the floor by my computer chair and barfs. I throw a paper towel over that (as it's easier to pick up drier), and less than an hour later she barfs on the kitchen floor, too. WHAT IS THE DEAL!? Roadie insists on peeing on our bath mat and our floor mats no matter what, so now we can no longer have a bath mat or floor mats, and Dulcie throws up so often that you don't walk in our house after dark without looking at your feet lest you step in an unpleasant surprise. I've about had it. Dulce is lucky I like her. Roadie is just lucky Kaylee would be devastated and wonder what happened to her. I. Do. Not. Like. Biological. Pet. Aftermaths. In. My. House.

I'm trying to figure out how I tweaked a nerve in my neck, but I can no longer turn my head to the left. That posed a little bit of a problem when I was instructing from the right side of an airplane today, but if I forgot and turned my head instead of my whole body, I was reminded quickly. ;) Today I almost made a mistake, or I did make a mistake but caught it in time. A young lady went along for the ride on today's lesson, and it was her first time ever in a small airplane. I started off well, explaining what we were doing and planning and how things worked for her, told her to let me know if she felt funny, bad, or just wasn't enjoying it; but today we were working on turns around a point, s-turns along a road, slips, etc. Kind of a lot of maneuvering around. I asked her if she was okay with that, and she was, and I'd turn around after about every maneuver and check on her, and she was always smiling and fine. And then I made my mistake. I forgot to check on her for awhile, and when I looked back it was to see her with her head laid back, eyes closed, and face pale. I had the student immediately head for the airport, opened all the air vents and aimed them at her, and landed straight in on the nearest runway so we wouldn't have to do pattern turns. She made it down in one piece, and after a few minutes had recuperated a bit. I wish she'd have let me know she was feeling bad, but I should have kept looking. Usually I have a radar about that, but my radar was a little behind today...I just hope it doesn't turn her off of flying.

The last half of my day was spent running around. Well, mostly. I waited for 30 minutes in the school parking lot since the kids weren't back yet from a field trip they took. As soon as she got back, I hauled her off to Kokomo where Chuck flew the three of us to Muncie so I could pick up another airplane. Kaylee and I flew back to Kokomo in the 172RG, and after I put it away, I drove Kaylee right back to her grandparents and then I drove to Glenndale so I could take the 172 and fly it over to Kokomo for the lesson. When we finished, I flew it back to Glenndale, put it away, and ran home to pick up Kaylee and eat finally, around 8 pm. A little run-around action.

Ttomorrow I am flying with a couple of people from the Discovery Channel and the UFO guys. Apparently they are re-creating the flight I took with them while searching the fields for signs that the boom around here was not a sonic boom, but rather a "phenomenon". The Discovery Channel is filming the flight for a program.
