Kaylee told me yesterday that I had given her two extra cupcakes, so she got to give them out. One she chose to give to the school nurse because she was so kind to Kaylee when her ear hurt, and the other she walked in to the principal's office because he is such a "good, kind principal to all us kids." I thought that was kind of sweet. :)
Today her teacher came back, and gave Kaylee a balloon, a card and a special pencil for her birthday, so she kind of got to celebrate for two days at school too. She was quite pleased about that!
I had some work to do this morning, and accomplished a lot of what I needed to do, so that's good.
I'm rather opposed to the lawsuit mentality in general, but I think I've found a lawsuit I would like to bring. Whoever is in charge of packaging for children's toys needs to be sued for my time, pain and suffering in opening all of their impossible packages. It took me well over an hour to get all the Stuff out of all the plastic packages. Each movable part is strapped or wired or welded down. They use wires, annoying stretchy things, and it drives me crazy. That packaging is also huge, has got to be adding to the environmental landfill issues considering I had four trash bags of big plastic packaging, wires, etc., and all in all there has GOT to be a better way. Seriously.
It Is Cold Here. I see that the boys in California aren't exactly steaming warm, but they are about 40 degrees warmer than I am right now, so I am still appropriately jealous. :) They've been to Van Nuys and Chino and all the fun spots. Here are a few photos so far. Meanwhile, here, did I mention that It Is Cold? I believe it was 4 degrees today when I woke up. I don't know what the windchill was, but MAN that's cold. We needed to get a plane over to Muncie, and needed to send a chase plane over to get the pilot of the first. Except it was so cold, the plane that needed to go didn't want to start. A couple of poor guys spent several hours out at the airport moving the plane around, putting a charger on it after it failed to start the first time, putting it in a heated hangar, and *waiting*. I went out and helped a bit, and by the time I got home, even wearing gloves, my hands hurt for awhile from the cold. They've gotten more sensitive since I really cold-fried them a couple times in a row in temps like this a couple of years ago...
I'd been running around pretty hard for a few days, and a little ramped up, and today I rather wilted in the afternoon after I picked Kaylee up from school. I was sitting at her gymnastics class, with a book in my hand, and I was so sleepy I couldn't keep my eyes focused. We had to do homework for tomorrow, and a little cleaning, and dinner, and a little playing, and I finally made it through the sleepies until now, 11 p.m., when of course I get my second wind because that's just the way I work. ;)
I just saw a commercial that Wednesday at 9 pm is when MythBusters is doing the long-awaited "Will an Airplane Take off on a Treadmill" myth. This topic has been so hotly debated in the aviation world that I am Sick To Death of it, which means that after the show airs, everyone will still be complaining about how it was portrayed or what they did wrong on the show. I may have to miss the conversations, but I'd like to see the show. Unfortunately it's on at the same time as Criminal Minds, which now makes it a toss-up. :)
Tomorrow could have some more cold flying involved, and Kaylee has a basketball game to cheer at, and it's Office Day; after tomorrow I'm going to try to catch up on all 170 emails waiting for me...
