Slow Saturday

Well, the huge amounts of snow they were predicting for us seem to have about halved. We might get an inch today, and a grand total of 6-8" by the end of Sunday. There's still supposed to be heavily blowing snow, so I'm sure it will still be enough of a mess. It's been lightly snowing these tiny little flakes for several hours, and Kaylee went outside to catch snow on her tongue and just mess around like any kid should. :) Steve got the snow blower working, so we're ready just in case it does dump.

We were watching a "Mythbusters" show on skydiving myths, and Kaylee was asking questions about skydiving, and she was amazed when we said we'd done it once. So we broke out the VHS tape to prove it. She thought that was pretty interesting, and Steve and I agree it's fairly embarrassing. 1). Nobody looks good in a puffy orange jump suit tightened around the thighs and arms. 2). I giggled. More than once. 3). My wrists flopped around limply, looking very...well, dumb. 4). Steve's landing left him turtle-walking for a few seconds. But we jumped close to sunset, and it really is beautiful to watch and remember. You can hear a little awe in my voice at the end. Oh yeah, and 5). I have a mic strapped to me which picks up on every noise I make and broadcasts it to tape. Yuck. :) Kaylee said "Boy, you guys look young! Were you even married back then?" I said "No, but we were dating." Kaylee rolls over and puts her hands over her ears and says "Oh, Eeeeeeew!" lol I noted with a laugh that during the practice run on the ground, the guy I'm strapped to is telling me to let go of the strut and grab onto my straps and basically just hang off of him, holding on to nothing. In other words, if he slips, I'm face planting on the strut. I let go with one hand, then the other, but both hands wouldn't let go at the same time. He says "Trust me!" and I laughed-then and now. Finally I did, and the scrawny dude did not indeed let me face plant, fortunately for both of us. ;) I'm thinking of figuring out how to turn the VHS tape into a DVD just for future (private) embarrassment in later years should the tape bite the dust one of these days. ;)

Well, I don't think anything too exciting will happen the rest of the day, we're just hanging out, doing some laundry, a little straightening up, watching the snow fall and waiting to see what the weather does...
