Well, sort of. Steve still has a lesson or two tomorrow. But then he's going hiking, and maybe taking Kaylee with him. Whatever shall I do with myself while they are gone? (Hang up clothes, I suppose. Gak.)
I came very close to getting hit in my car today. I hate those scenarios that are out of your hands. I was driving through the park, which is a winding, hilly road, when a car coming the opposite direction didn't make one of the corners properly and came over into my lane. The only problem is that to my right was a metal guardrail after which was a drop off. I had nowhere to go, so all I could do was hug the guard rail and hit my brakes to at least minimize the impact if he hit me. He came so close to the side of my car that my mirror couldn't have missed him by an inch. Just...whoosh. Those close calls feel a bit like when you're at the top of the 400' tall roller coaster drop. You look down and see it coming, squeeze the roll bar/steering wheel knowing it's not going to help in the end, and just hang on for the ride. Except I like the one and don't like the other. ;) Fortunately, this ride ended like the roller coaster, with person, vehicle, and shorts all still in pristine condition.
Kaylee's in bed, Steve has a friend over and they're sitting on the deck chatting, and I'm sitting here on my couch with my laptop in my lap, a plate of pizza to the side, a large mug of warm almond honey tea with milk on the end table, a good book to read when I finish here, and a new candle with a Black Cherry Scent burning right next to me. Oh yes, life is good.
