The Rest of My Day

After 10 a.m., things slowed down for a bit. I got some work done at home, and then headed to Culvers for lunch with Jim, Chuck, Steve and Gene. I drove them back to Glenndale, and then headed for a few more errands before picking Kaylee up at school. Then the real race began. Mondays are always a little nuts. She got home, changed her clothes, had a snack, and we headed to ballet, which lasts for an hour. When we left there, we went right to cheer, where she changed clothes and was ready to go there too. Cheer lasts for an hour and a half and ends at 7:30 pm. I had to pay for her cheerleader outfit today-$140 total for all the underthings and overthings and skirt and whathaveyou. Sheesh. Arby's for dinner, home to do math homework for tomorrow, then she's off to bed, where she falls asleep very quickly. I asked if she was ready to drop one of these yet, and she said "No Way!"

Mondays are also her "PE" day. She gets in the car after school and says "I hate PE". I couldn't help it, I started laughing, because how many people actually LIKED Phys Ed in school?? She asked why she had to have PE, and I said "because it's for exercise, to help you be healthy and strong." She replied with "I ALREADY exercise and I'm ALREADY healthy! Well, I eat junk food sometimes, but I'm STILL healthy!" I insisted it was good for her, and smirked the rest of the way home about it. I detested PE as a kid too. ;) Of course, I also had The Bully Girl who would make fun of us when we changed clothes, and the typical grade school traumas associated with PE such as being chosen last, or what-have-you, which she hasn't dealt with yet, and I hope she doesn't! I won't be smiling much if she runs into that kind of thing.

On a note of irony, I got a note home from school that included two pages of photos of the Ice Cream Social event. Yep. There I was with Kaylee and her teacher, one white foot showing. The good news is, only I will see the white foot in that photo, as the quality is poor.

Steve and Kaylee were watching a new 'kids' show on Nickelodeon called "iCarly" while I was in the other room reading a book and paying no attention. The show said it was for Y7, or youth age seven and up. Unfortunately, we apparently have different ideas as to what is appropriate for seven-year-olds than they do. On the show, these girls started making fun of one of their teachers, talking about her "boobs", and the shape of them. Steve asks Kaylee, "Do you know what they are talking about? Do you know what the word 'boob' means?" Kaylee responds with "Yes, a boob is a really dumb person." Steve's been laughing about her response ever since. :) But neither of us think the show is funny. Call me old-fashioned if you like, but Tweens doing that mean gossipy thing, making fun of/being disrespectful to teachers/adults, poking fun at someone for the shape of their chest, I Don't Think So.

Oh, and her school photos will be taken next Monday, so I should have her First Grade Photos out in a couple months I would guess. And they Don't have a puke-green background this time, either!! I get to choose from a sapphire, amber, amethyst or basic grey background. What's your vote? Dark Blue, brownish/yellow, purple or grey?

After Kaylee went to bed, I got through 40 Things To Do on my email, and have only 250 to go. ;) Hey, you do what you can...

Guess that's it for today!
