"We all like to daydream a little, and who hasn't thought a little about this one?: Ten Things I'd Do If I Won the Lottery. New house, new car, new face? Get those creative juices flowing, what would you do with millions of dollars?"
First I'd have to actually play the lottery in order to win, so it's not looking too good, and actually we'd have a plan with living off the interest and keeping the principle invested, setting up a fund towards SMA and keeping it going on interest as well, etc. But aside from that on the more frivolous side, if someone handed me millions of dollars, I'd probably...
Ten Things I'd Do If I Won The Lottery
1. SMA. Well, I'd make sure I was able to do something lasting and large for families dealing with SMA. Maybe I could finally afford to get the handicapped accessible vans that so many people need. Maybe put some towards a diet study, heart study, or a worthy drug trial. Or all the above.
2. Perhaps...consider adding to the family.
3. Land. We'd buy some nice land somewhere and build a home on it. Somewhere out in the country, but close enough to real people that I could get fast internet and find a store open 24 hours a day. Not that I go out at 3 am any more come to think of it, but just in case the urge ever strikes again.
4. Oh the Airplane(s) I could buy. I can't begin to drool over my options here. I'd want something fast and good for family travel, I'd want something big powerful and good for my own thrills, and maybe something small for local pretty evening sunset relaxing flights. Maybe I should have titled this one "Oh the maintenance and fuel I could pay for." *sigh*
5. A bus or RV. It's not like we need one of these. We only use one a time or two per year, but if we had one we could do weekend camp-outs at the airport and tag along a little easier on the airshow circuit camps. I started thinking to myself why I wouldn't get one, and then I remembered: someone handed me millions of dollars.
6. Oh the places I would go. I'd get my passport post haste, and we'd be gone in a flash. I have a lot of countries I want to visit, a lot of things I want to try or do. I want to get that magazine listing all the rich and posh places to visit, and I want to check some of them out. And to freely visit family and friends whenever I wanted. Now that would be nice.
7. Makeover. I'd actually go along with it. A hair, face, clothing and body makeover. Sure, why not? I wouldn't care to be Princess Laura with the perfectly coiffed hair and the always stylish clothing-it's not me. I'll always like the smell of fuel and oil and prefer jeans and t-shirts. But I could use some new duds and my own scary personal trainer for sure. ;)
8. Savings. It's a boring answer, but true. I'd save a lot of it. Retirement, Rainy Day, Kaylee's College; all worthy saving goals. I wouldn't care to just blow it in a big wad of fun, I want it around for years to come, even if it means I can only buy one cool airplane at a time. ;)
9. Whatever I want. Okay, I'm just kidding, mostly. Life doesn't work that way. Next sarcastic answer-"Pay Taxes like crazy". Or "Suddenly find an amazing number of relatives I didn't know I had on my doorstep." No, if I was given millions of dollars, other than SMA, I'd take some of it to have fun with, some of it to save for the future, some of it to take care of family/friends in some ways as I could, and some of it to make a difference in areas where I could. A small church, a small private school, the SMA community, etc.
10. Heaven. By the way, 'heaven' for me would be a cleaning service, a laundry service, and a cooking service. Can you imagine?? Someone to cook healthy but tasty meals every day for my family. Someone to PUT AWAY my laundry, the #1 job I detest. Someone to make it so that when I walk into my house, it smells fresh, sparkles, and I can sit and relax and not worry about picking up, putting away, or scrubbing anything like cat barf off the floor. Oh, I need to stop and dwell on this one for a minute. It gave me as big of a tingle as #4 did. Yep, I need to end on this one. There's nowhere to go from 'heaven' anyway, right!? (Quietly moves this to #10).
