The Power of Makeup and Accessories

The power reaches two girls. I can finally wear make-up on my pink-eye eye again, and that makes me feel much less freakish. :) The eye is almost completely cleared-up, though I will keep using the eye drops as long as I am supposed to. I also turned a corner yesterday in my health, and I am almost feeling human again. If I could stop coughing, and not be all junky in the mornings and evenings, I'd be great!

For Kaylee, she received a gift of a make-up bag for her to keep her beauty products in. She keeps it next to her bed, and she loves to reach down and grab "MY Makeup bag!" and put on a dash of lip gloss. It's her new favorite toy. But don't worry, she's also going to be out washing cars and working in the garage with Daddy this afternoon when she gets up from her nap. ;)

Steve and Kaylee rearranged her room around yesterday. It took ALL day, but it looks nice and different in there, and Kaylee enjoys it! She has a new view to look at, a different amount of space to play in, and it will make changing her sheets a Whole lot easier for me, personally. So everybody is happy.

There's an odd situation going on in the SMA community. I guess it had to happen sooner or later. There are always bad apples in any bunch, and we've had a few who were not the stellar people you'd prefer, but nothing like this. Two young moms of newly diagnosed children came to chat within a short time of each other. Shortly thereafter, one of the other moms noticed something wrong with one of them. Long story short, we found out the one mom was a total fraud, and in investigating her, we found the second mom was a fraud too, and that they were kind of a team who had hit several different places and pretended to be various things. One was on a cancer survivor group for teens, but other than that they mostly hit SMA places. They set up MySpace pages with photos of children who were not theirs and claimed they were (with SMA). One came to our chat and claimed to have a son with SMA, but used the same email address to communicate with us that she'd used to communicate with Cole's Quilts to get a quilt for her 21 year old daughter Sarah with SMA. Of course this girl ended up BEING Sarah. In other areas she claimed to have 3 kids, in some areas she claimed to be the one with SMA herself. It was one giant scam over a several year period of time. I am glad that a couple of our moms figured it out, hunted her down, and we turned over all the concrete information (shipping addresses, phone numbers, names, places on the internet they had posted, user ID's, all the proof) to her local FBI chapter, who agreed to look into it and who will hopefully at minimum show up at her door and scare her off from doing this for awhile. Of all the low, sneaky, immoral things to do. What kind of psycho pretends to be living the life of SMA? The not-so-nice side of me wishes it on them. You want it so much my dears? You two can have it...a fast acting adult version of SMA. Good luck with that. Don't come to ME for help. I suppose the Christian side of me should just pray for their sorry souls, but I'm not quite there yet. I just had to tell 115 REAL moms dealing with SMA that the people they had been befriending and helping were basically using them, were total frauds, and they feel betrayed and hurt and angry. What I'd like to pray for is a little justice, but I doubt that would be an honorable prayer so I will keep it as a simple wish for awhile before I move on.

Back to nice things. Kaylee cracks me up. She was eating some applesauce, and she comes over and says "Look Mommy, I think you will be impressed with me." Because she'd eaten all the applesauce. The word "impressed" actually impressed me more than the fact she ate her applesauce. It's not the first time she used big words by any means, usually I don't even notice any more. But sometimes it sticks out and I'm trying to remember to write them down more. :)

Now she's off to a nap and I need to go take my antibiotics and eye drops! Oh, and if anybody needs Betty Crocker points, let me know because I have a small bag of them and I don't need them, so if nobody else does, I'll just pitch them.
