Yes, it's still Monday, it's just 1:58 a.m. Tuesday morning and since I haven't gone to bed, it doesn't count. I have an insomnia issue on top of a coughing issue. Last night when I went to bed, I could NOT sleep even though I went to bed fairly early (for me). Sometime around 2:30 a.m. I started up my coughing hard routine, hard enough to make me choke. Kaylee had sneaked in around 2 a.m. and I pretended like I didn't see her because I didn't want to have to get up and put her back to bed. But when I started coughing so hard, she reached over and gently started rubbing my back. Which was really sweet. She didn't say a word, just reached over and started rubbing on me to comfort me.
Finally I had to get up and leave the bed because I couldn't stop. I was drinking codeine cough syrup like crazy and it didn't stop me. Expired maybe? Anyway, finally I settled down, so I crawled into Kaylee's vacant bed and tried to go to sleep sometime around 3 a.m. At 6 a.m. Kaylee came back into her room and tried to crawl into bed with me, but there is no room, so I went back to my own bed and she came with me for a little cuddle. I slept finally and got up late.
Today I got some stuff at the store to prepare for my trip to California and Las Vegas coming up on Wednesday. I will be gone for five days, and Kaylee will be staying with her daddy, and her grandparents will help out big-time. I'm going to miss the little bugger!
I also got back 400 photos I had taken since early Spring that I hadn't ordered to put in my photo albums yet. Now to put them all away...
While I was out I took Kaylee to McDonald's Playland as a thank you for how patient she's been with me being so sick and boring for a week straight. I told her it would be short, that I still wasn't well, and she said "Okay Mommy." When it was time to leave, I told her it was time to leave. Instead of the pouting, arguing, or pleading I get sometimes, she just looked at me and came down right away, put her shoes on, and said "Okay Mommy". I was quite proud of her and made sure to tell her!
We went to get in the car, and she said "Um, Mommy, I think we have a Situation Here." I look down and she's pointing at a spot on the car where it looks like it was painted over for rust. I laughed and told her it would be okay. But the "I think we have a Situation Here" cracked me up. I wish I could portray her tone of voice. So...teenager-ish!
Tonight Chuck, Judy, Steve, Kaylee and I went out to Nate's new hangar to help clean the floor for a party that will be going on while Chuck, Nate and I are gone. Ironically enough, the party is being thrown for a fellow on my bottom 10 list. It was hard for me to stand there and do nothing, so I tried to help a little now and then, but within a couple of hours I was starting to cough and feel weak again so I didn't do much. A tad sweeping, a little moving water, that's about it. I had to leave early so I wouldn't wear myself out too much and have a set-back.
Well, tomorrow are some last-minute preparations and packing for my trip, so I guess I'm going to sign off and go to bed. I'm starting up on the coughing thing so I think I'll try out the cough syrup a friend recommended and pray it does better than the old codeine stuff I have!
