And...

The Aerostar is flying as I speak down to Texas, for its new home. Scott Glover is the pilot who purchased it, and he runs a large museum down there with a bunch of airplanes. Steve says he's a very nice man, down to earth. I didn't meet him. Steve also said Matt Jackson remembered us, asked about me, and was also very nice and gracious. They didn't offer anything today on the Glasair or the T-6, they just came for Gumby for now. The pilots did briefly look at the T-6, and one of them said it's one of the nicest T-6s he's ever seen. I hear that a lot, actually. It feels weird that I didn't get to fly a goodbye flight in the Aerostar or something, but off it goes. Ugly Gumby turned into part of the Checkertail Clan, and now off to a new caretaker. At least I know he'll take good care of it. Nathan would probably approve, if it couldn't stay here.

Meanwhile, I was with Kaylee. She took a Xanax ahead of time, and it kicked it after we'd been there for about 15 minutes. Then she gets back there and they get in there and the doctor is amazed, because that whole tooth is a mess. A huge hole, exposed material, gunk in there, all the things. He cannot believe it doesn't hurt her, because he says the nerve is actually not dead. The nerve is alive. That means no root canal after all. She had paid $2800 on her credit card to get a root canal and a cap, and they'll be refunding her for the root canal part of it. They cleaned out the tooth, rebuilt it with whatever material they rebuild teeth with, and put a temporary crown on it until her real one comes in. She wanted a sweet tea afterwards and couldn't feel 3/4ths of her face, so I warned her about not dribbling it all down her front in my car. lol She curled up on her couch at home and passed out hard, after asking me to bring her chicken salad from Grindestones for lunch. I get back from lunch and she's still asleep on the couch. I don't know how long she napped but I know she had a 5 pm zoom session with a client to get to. She says her mouth is sore but she's doing okay.

The guys are coming to start working on repairing the ceilings in her two bedrooms, the only two rooms with plaster on the ceilings. The one that fell, there's dust everywhere. Black dust. It's a mess, we may have to replace the carpeting, and it's bad for your lungs, that's for sure. She had trouble sleeping the next night because she kept expecting to be woken up with the ceiling falling on her in bed again.

Once I got done with lunch, I went out to Glenndale and took Chuck's Citabria to Delphi. He had mentioned it was sitting there with the hangar door open and crying because nobody flew it. So I flew it. I landed at Delphi and aimed for the fuel pump and went to hit the right brake to swing the plane away from the pump and line up with it, and nothing. There is no right brake. So I try to stop and I only have one left brake, while I aim for the fuel tanks. Fortunately I got stopped and swung around before having to kill it and hope for the best. I topped off with cheap fuel, and then waited for the guys to come help me move the broken down Cirrus off the ramp and into its own hangar. We put the tow bar on it, and I pulled it all the way across the airport and into the hangar, with three other guys helping push. The steering was the hard part, and walking backwards rapidly without getting run over by the plane or hurting my knee. Got it done, hopped back in the Citabria, and flew it back to Glenndale where I did a couple takeoffs and landings. I'd have liked to do more, but I didn't want to do them at Delphi as it's a narrow runway with a direct crosswind and I have no brake, and I didn't want to do them at Kokomo because there were already 3 airplanes in the pattern. I would have liked to do more at Glenndale, but Chuck was sitting out on the golf cart watching me, and so were a couple other guys, and I didn't feel like being watched, I just felt like flying. Besides he was waiting to help me put it away. So I put it away. Wiped the bugs off just like the old days, and closed up the door. Asked Chuck if he wanted to go fly and he said no this time. I'll have to get him in soon though.

Meanwhile, Morgan was on her first ever jet trip. She said it was new and fancy and super easy and did everything for you. She was with Tom, the main boss, so she took the opportunity to talk to him about her concerns. How things had changed from what they originally talked about. He agreed with her that she didn't need to go to the airport Monday through Friday just to go if there's nothing going on, he agreed that she could still come up to Kokomo and do things here too, and he agreed that John was not her supervisor, he was. So all that made her feel a little better than she had been feeling. Me too a little. I hope it sticks and isn't an issue.

We have a CAF meeting tonight but I just can't do it. I woke up at 3 am upset, never really got back to sleep, I'm sad, I'm tired, I'm weary, and I cannot handle a CAF meeting tonight. But the Terre Haute Airshow is this weekend, and I'm in charge of the rides part of it, and I haven't done anything about it much. I contacted Niki again about what I need (she hadn't sent it so far), and contacted Lindy about the website stuff, and told the guys I'd get back to them when I knew more, and that's about it. Friday is an arrival day and an event that evening for the pilots and crew. I have a hotel room down there and everything. I don't know what I'm bringing down there or when or how, either. This may be a giant cluster, but one problem at a time, and I haven't had the bandwidth for that problem yet. Now it's about time to find some bandwidth though.

Tomorrow I fly Stephen down to Sparta, KY. That's the place they have a runway but not a single other building anywhere around. No bathroom, no FBO, no fuel, no nothing. So they'll have to drive me into town and drop me off at the truck stop/McDonald's while they go do their thing, then come pick me back up when they're done.  I had to cancel another PT session. I've had to cancel every single one for the next two weeks so far. I have to cancel Monday's now too, now that I'm going to Minnesota and spending the night next Monday. It's funny that we get busy once Morgan's gone. We wait until mid-August to get busy...I'm glad to be busy again, don't get me wrong.

And for now I'm going to eat some chicken strips and some au gratin potatoes and try to relax and get some sleep tonight.
