Kaylee
So Kaylee is out in Wyoming right now, with an old YWAM friend named Bri, hiking out there. She went to Yellowstone yesterday and did a hike, saw the park. Today they went to the Teton National Park, and she did an almost 6 mile hike to a beautiful lake out there. She was telling her friend Bri that she hiked 10 miles at home with no problem, but this, this was different. They started at a 6000' altitude and were hiking up around 9500', and Kaylee had to stop sometimes every 20' to try to catch her breath. She has POTS, which affects her heart rate, energy, ability to bend over or stand up, climb, etc. She hadn't slept, and for the TMI section, she had just started her period, which for her is very painful and difficult. And she hiked in the Tetons, one step at a time, until she got to the top and got back down. With the support of her friend who stopped and waited with her on a hike she could do with her eyes closed, being acclimated out there. Now that's a good friend. And we are proud of Kaylee for accomplishing this. She said it's the hardest thing she's physically ever done and she didn't think she would make it. She sent some gorgeous photos, too. She said tomorrow Bri has to work so she's going to stay there and try to recuperate. We're proud of her. I have been at those altitudes, and I can feel my heart pounding and my breath catching just walking up a road. Let alone a hard core scramble across boulders hike through the woods and mountains. It as at that altitude that my oxygen levels dropped to 70 one night. If she's not barfing and dealing with a migraine too, she's done so well...
