I have one trip scheduled for next Monday, and that's all for now. Had a potential trip Thursday but he canceled it. So I have time to do other things, I just have to get organized and figure out what else I want to do for awhile here.
Yesterday I had a trip to Butler, PA. I was taking Tell and Logan over there, and Morgan came along. I was up at 5:45 am, out of the house by 6:30, to the airport by 7:30, off the ground by 7:45 am. Watched the sun rise, got there early, and I had also brought a T-6 manual. So I sat up in the pilot lounge with Morgan and went through the ground school. It's a 103 page manual, and I went through all of it, and gave her a copy. It took about 2 hours, a good use of our time, actually.
From there we decided to walk to an on-field restaurant with runway views that was supposed to be pretty nice! It was supposed to be about a ten minute walk. It's cold and windy, but we hike it anyway instead of stealing the crew car. Get all the way there, only to find they are closed on Mondays, something that didn't show up on my Google Maps when I first looked it up, and wasn't listed on their menu that they had in the pilot lounge. *sigh* So we turned around and hiked 10 minutes back to the FBO, stole the crew car, and drove to a place. Since we were going to be there until 5 pm, I took the car about 30 minutes away through the Pennsylvania hills and trees, on the back roads, and it was really pretty. This place we ended up at, I had a vanilla bean chicken salad, pine nuts, grilled chicken, spinach, etc. It was delicious, the salad dressing was a vanilla bean vinaigrette. Never had it before, really enjoyed it. The place had several animal heads mounted on the wall over us. I told Morgan, I'm not morally opposed to hunting, I like eating meat, and I'd rather they be in the wild and killed for all their parts and not just raised in a cage and killed there. But I'm not super fond of mounting the corpse heads on the wall. Again, not because I'm morally opposed to it, but...it seems unnecessary, a little sad, and a little weird if you really think about it.
Another 30 minute drive back, and we stopped at a little red door in the side of a 'mountain' to see what that was about, stuck randomly off the side of the road. Ends up having something to do with a water system. The last two hours we were there, I paid the fuel bill, and we just worked on internet stuff and chatted. When we flew home, leaving just after 5 pm, the sun was already down. So ridiculous. Flew home in the dark with a crack of sunset left on the horizon for a good hour, and nasty headwinds that took a 1.5 hour flight out there to almost a 2.5 hour flight home.
When we got back to Frankfort, I put the plane away and then we went to Culvers to get some food. It was 8 pm and I hadn't eaten since a small salad at lunch, so it was time...
Got home and I was Wiped Out. Went to bed early. Woke up with The Headache.
Kaylee came over to walk on the treadmill for 2 hours, even though she had a long day with back to back clients. She is going to have to call DCFS for one young lady who was raped several times by a former boyfriend, but refuses to call the police on him, and Kaylee is required to call when she knows something like that. She's a little stressed by that. She works with some heavy stuff, but she chose to work with heavy stuff, it's what she wanted to do--to help where she could with heavy stuff.
Sunrise before we left this morning
The 340 out of the window from the pilot lounge
The random door in the hill
Sunset on the way home
Scary looking ladies in the cockpit
