C-Tailwheels

Started the day finishing up Loren's C-45 training. It went pretty smoothly this time, he got it down pretty well by the end. One thing I wanted to make an impression on him with, that he didn't seem to take very seriously, was needing to be smooth and fast with engine out stuff, because BOB doesn't do great on one engine if you don't. So, even though you're not supposed to simulate engine failures below 400' any more, I did it shortly after takeoff, at which point because he was slow at it, we barely got any altitude for awhile. My point was made, and he tightened it up after that. We landed topped off, signed his paperwork online for the CAF, and I sent him on his way.

From there, I took Ty's Chief back to Glenndale and put it back in his hangar for him. I hadn't flown a Chief in ages, and this is a hand prop one that doesn't have brakes. So I put chocks down and had Morgan hand-prop me, then get out of the way and move the chocks. lol  Had to do a rolling run-up. But Glenndale is of course rough grass with plenty of room, so no need for brakes there. It was a nice, quick flight, and I enjoyed it.

Morgan picked me up in the Champ, and flew me to Logansport, where I picked up the Citabria, and brought it back to Kokomo. We flew home in fairly loose formation. It was a perfect fly-day. Calm winds, clear skies, nice temps, just...pretty. So I flew all C-planes, tailwheels. C-45, Chief, Champ, Citabria. :) Good day!

Left there, put everything away, and went to CVS to pick up a card for Steve's birthday. I made reservations for tomorrow evening at 6 pm down at Charleston's in Carmel, and got his present wrapped, Kaylee got hers to him wrapped, and we made a card up. So he will hopefully be appropriately celebrated for his 66th. :)

Tomorrow I take Kevin down to Kissimmee, and then family dinner in Indy.
